I got it running on a 16G microSD card, but struggling to expand the partition.   It is only using less than 2 gig and I can't figure out how to expand it to use the full capacity of the microSD card.  I tried the command line for gparted, no luck, tried fdisk, still no luck.  I am just learning Linux, so this is only a tutorial for me, to learn.  Kodi is running, but since this is a beta, there are a lot of things it won't do.

gparted does have a graphical user interface when you run that in a Linux PC. You must run that as root. Expand the partition with the mouse.

Still no sign of wifi :(

even after trying with latest build

I did try balbes150 test build with kernel 4.9 and with a class 4 tf card. No sign of wifi like it has with kernel 3.14 and a class 10 tf card. I hope you are using a class 10 tf card, my class 4 card causes many performance problems.

with command "dmesg | less" the only lines I see about wifi, those lines

    [ 2.316859] aml_wifi wifi.33: [wifi_dev_probe] no power_on_pin2
    [ 2.316875] aml_wifi wifi.33: [wifi_dev_probe] set pwm as 32k output
    [ 2.316929] aml_wifi wifi.33: [wifi_dev_probe] interrupt_pin=241
    [ 2.316944] aml_wifi wifi.33: [wifi_dev_probe] irq_num=100, irq_trigger_type=1
    [ 2.316962] aml_wifi wifi.33: [wifi_dev_probe] power_on_pin=240
    [ 2.316975] aml_wifi wifi.33: [wifi_dev_probe] clock_32k_pin=0
    [ 2.317354] aml_wifi wifi.33: [wifi_setup_dt] wifi_setup_dt
    [ 2.317406] aml_wifi wifi.33: [wifi_setup_dt] interrupt_pin(241)
    [ 2.317429] aml_wifi wifi.33: [wifi_setup_dt] power_on_pin(240)

in the initial boot console. I didn't even see anything about wifi.

BTW. I'm using Custom android rom (SuperCeleron V8B) with his custom kernel. does it affect the wifi in linux when booting from usb?

Those early boot lines show even wifi is not working, ie device wlan0 is missing and sudo ifconfig does not show it. Hope you have the wifi_dummy line in /etc/modules and you can also add bcrmfmac driver there too.  Android rom does not affect if you do a cold boot, uboot boots from internal or external flash memory.  A restart can leave firmware into the device memory.

AES support with unprivileged processor instructions is also available in the latest SPARC processors (T3, T4, T5, M5, and forward) and in latest ARM processors. The SPARC T4processor, introduced in 2011, has user-level instructions implementing AES rounds.[13] These instructions are in addition to higher level encryption commands. The ARMv8-Aprocessor architecture, announced in 2011, including the ARM Cortex-A53 and A57 (but not previous v7 processors like the Cortex A5, 7, 8, 9, 11, 15[citation needed]) also have user-level instructions which implement AES rounds

You can upgrade Armbian to Debian testing by adding a new repository with Synaptic, by clicking Reload and by updating all packages. You can change the country code (de):

    deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian testing main

Debian testing Xfce works fine with Sunvell T95Z Plus AmLogic S912. Use Chromium, Iceaweasel plays youtube videos really slow and without sound. Use Wicd and QasMixer and remove networkmanager, systemd networking.service and pulseaudio to speed up system and increasing system stability.

I have not tested the multi-boot into Android 7.

    To All

By the way, there's good news, with the help of user SFS (from Russian forum puppyrus) I've worc with KODI to play videos in standard Linux. Only on the basis of ArchLinux, but I hope it can be transferred to the Armbian. Now need time to go to collect and debug and assembe a complete system. If you would be willing to help testing KODI on the basis of ArchLinux - write. Also welcome assistance in building packages for Debian\Ubuntu (I have little experience in this).

Kodi is already available in Debian testing for arm64.

  6. I tested Armbian_5.27_S905X-S912_Debian_jessie_4.9.26+_xfce_20170519.img. It does not boot without copying /media/xfce/BOOT/dtb-4.9.26+/gxm_q200_2g.dtb to BOOT/dtb.img. Then I could answer to the Armbian installer questions after login as root. Letters were corrupted at the bottom of the LG 26LG3000 tv so it was a bit  difficult to answer to the questions when letters were barely visible. Wifi did not work although I edited Armbian first run file in the boot partition.  It boots to Xfce desktop but using the wireless keyboard/touchpad is crazy. This kernel does not have audio driver so only usable kernel is 3.14 and I did build an installer image by using Debian testing Xfce, see my previous message.

    All,

Is it not handy to create a new armbian stream for the NanoPi K2 ?

Armbian is THE development platform for armbased CPU's

    Peter

Armbian is based on Debian that has ARM support for many CPUs. Aarch64 is a standard that is why you can update Armbian to Debian testing. Amlogic S905 is a 64-bit CPU like S912.  Add a new repository: deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian testing main

Note the coutry code, you can change it. Here is a list of supported Debian architectures.

    https://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/

Only the kernel and device drivers must match your hardware. User level software is common in a CPU architecture.

Hi ! What you did for have the wifi working? And how you can improve the resolution? I have only 1024*768.

    Thanks in advance.

    Muadiv.

    Add the line to /etc/modules:

    wifi_dummy

Upgrade to Debian testing and install Wicd and remove networkmanager and systemd networking.service. Install correct firmware to /lib/firmware, use dmesg to see if firmware is missing  This is solution for Sunvell T95Z Plus Amlogic S912. Resolution can depend on the monitor, so there is no compatible resolution.

I still think Armbian needs a testing/beta branch so surprises like broken networking after just an usual 'apt upgrade' on a specific device (I would like to kick out of Armbian rather sooner than later) can be avoided.

Network manager breaks and user has no control to hardware because the user interface use notifications from the software layer below. That is the same shitty redhat/gnome software as pulseaudio and gnome3. Use wicd, alsa and gstreamer. Chromium is better than Iceweasel that did not play audio with alsa and current Firefox uses only pulseaudio. Iceweasel plays youtube videos so slow that it is really garbage. Updated Armbian jessie Xfce to Debian testing Xfce where is Chromium and Sunvell T95Z Plus works much better now.  I have used many years Debian testing Xfce in many PCs and it can be stable, fast and easy to use rolling release os for arm64 users too.
