regarding dts files, are the uboot and kernel dts files meant to be identical ? useful link about dts to/from dtb compiler. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/21670967/how-to-compile-dts-linux-device-tree-source-files-to-dtb

I have ordered the Vontar H618 as it hardware is similar to transpeed most are using. I am new armbian and have much to learn, so using Vontar should be easier then Tanix Tx6. @rafman what is the monitor software on your desktop?

starting from git clone https://github.com/augin/linux_openvfd i did this. it not problem i was just testing , my image is still not fully working so just playing around with it trying to learn more about armbian. but breaking it has given more info about cinnamon problem which i want to fix. as first fix was more by brute force purge and reinstall cinnamon which is not needed but uninstal and reinstall menu applet. I need to check android DTS and compare with my Armbian DTS , think some gpio / uarts need fixing for ethernet and Bluettoth but im noob so lots to learn. Also need faster SD card as one i have are slow. I gone back to testing miniarch image also, and ethernet does work with it.
-
I started following you instructions for openvfd. clone git and changed the kernel and reboot. but i dont have ethernet and it kept trying to connect and time out. ended up reloading image on SDCARD. lol think i found the reason why cinnamon fails to load menu. cinnamon app does not exist zero size. xfce4-about.desktop think i will reload image again and work out exactley th problem with cinnamon

@MMorales Your LED Display work is really cool and nerdy 🤯😎🤓

I got wifi working by making link > file in /lib/firmware/brcm brcmfmac4330-sdio.tanix,tx6s.bin > brcmfmac4330-sdio.bin brcmfmac4330-sdio.tanix,tx6s.txt > brcmfmac-ap6330-sdio.txt Also have Cinnamon Desktop/Menu now working after purge and reinstall of cinnamon. Still need to get BlueTooth and Ethernet working. Thanks @Nick A

Belena Etcher Uncompresses the image then writes image then verifies image. I switched to just clicking on compressed image and use linux default restore image using Disks. I now try using extracted image and usb image writer. this does not work I am using Linux Mint but can also boot win10. I check out rufus too. i also have many other on my win10 drive. thanks for your help update: using Rufus to burn image to sdcard gives same result black screen on tv and led clock blank Do i need press any buttons inside box ? what should i expect to see if it works ? Checking my ram spec it is DDR3L so will need boot loader "board-h616.tanix_tx6s_lpddr3" RAM: K4B4G0446D-BYK0 DDR3L-1600 (11-11-11) https://image.semiconductor.samsung.com/resources/data-sheet/DS_K4B4G0846D_BY_M_Rev1_3-0.pdf I confident my SDCard image is ok and not the issue I need to learn how to change boot loader

I tried booting with Tanix Tx6 images burned with balenaEtcher-linux-x64. micro sdcard has boot and root partitions I get nothing black screen on LG TV and clock LED blank. Do i need to copy dts file or edit file ? never done this before.

Revieved my Tanix TX6 H616 4GB + 32GB PCB: CS_H616_TX6S_B4_V4.4A RAM: K4B4G0446D EMMC: E32GDSAA1ABE00 WIFI: SP6330-X0 PMIC: AXP313A LED IC: FD650B-S Work OK and specs are correct, No display on my monitor but works on my LG TV. I have ordered a new HDMI to DVI cable to replace my HDMI to DVI adapter, and ordered a HDMI to DP adapter. hopefully can get my monitor to work with HDMI. I added Rx Tx Gnd 5V connector for serial coms. There is also EMMC/CLK and GND test points on bottom of PCB. To open use a guitar pick or spudger to prise bottom case off. Comparing the PCB with the Tanix TX68 i posted previously , seem identical PCB part number just different cpu and wifi and emmc used.

tested with two hdmi cables, same result also cable worked with MXQpro4k TV box ok. ordered a Tanix TX6 to replace the Vontar So far MXQpro4k was fake returned. Vontar H618 was faulty returned waiting for Tanix TX6s and Tanix TX6 dont think Tanix TX6s will ship, it all COD so no loss if not ship
-
The Vontar H618 arrived, but fault HDMI black screen with intermittent flash of screen, tested on Dell Monitor and LG TV. Could not even check setting or install hardware info app 😢. Also got a wireless gyro air mouse remote which was not an air mouse. 🤬 Double disappointment. returning both for refund.
