  1. Hi I really doubt that a stick can decode H264 in hardware because USB2 is too slow to carry the result. For H265 my orangePI PC was able to display 4K recordings on my HD TV . This was with the Android OS
  2. Hi Yes HDMI is tricky and the way OS's try to deal with it too. I have a Windows 10 device connected to my TV each time I switch off the TV the sound of W10 goes back to analog and never comes back.
  3. Both for more than $10 seems to be the way to go
  4. The last number indicates the number of zeroes to add to get the value in picofarads so: 101 means 100 pF 104 means 0.1µF or 100000 pF
  5. Hi There seems to be a ground connection missing here is the schematic from OrangePI PC
  6. Hi This is the error I get E: fexc-bin: Malformed data: version 34984.1.2. Still working in a saved bin.old folder

  8. Hi Nice Box for sure. Main problem with such a solution is that when you want access to the hardware on a bench you have to use a temporary heat sink. I killed a DVD writer this way. Only later I noticed there was a thermal pad on the cover I removed
  9. Beware of the USB3 hub Ethernet combo. I tried one with very poor Ethernet performance. Hub seems OK but doesn't allow for external power supply.
  10. In my opinion it is much better to have the CPU on the solder side of the board. It allows efficient passive cooling in a metal box that can be necessary for EMC in the real world.
  11. Hi The channel used in the 2.4 GHz band is important. High speed WIFI modes are normally impossible on channels close to the band borders like 1 or 13 because the spectrum of the signal would be out of band. Depending on the drivers used on both sides this can lead to errors of interpretation.
  12. Hi Does this means that it could be possible to change the use of the GPIO pins "on the fly" I mean without rebooting.
  13. Adding or improving passive cooling on any SBC is ALWAYS a good idea. It doesn't requires any technical knowledge. It can save you a lot of time.
  14. I have no experience of recent cheap WIFI dongles . An important point IMHO is to choose one that allows Access point and Blue Tooth operation. Using a long USB cable can also improve greatly their performance by placing them in a place where interference is low.
  15. Hi Using gqrx to decode FM stereo i found that it sometimes took about 1 minute to get a decent audio. It is a very CPU intensive process. During that time the CPU frequency varied a lot before stabilizing to maximum. This problem disappeared by switching to performance mode. May be it would be a good idea to do that for testing WLAN performance too. There are cases of interference caused by USB3 may be the CPU clock can interfere too. Is there a command that can fix the CPU frequency on the fly ?
