You can also do some research on your side by googling "running linux headless command line parameters" or something similar to see if you find some relevant information. Surely somebody must have investigated this before!
So I need to do further research do understand better about the kernel options then :)
About the suggestion from @balbes150 have you tried to use the meson-gxm-q201-1gb.dtb from the link https://yadi.sk/d/6dGnDzxI9Zc6Dg in your M8 ? (I have checked your fw_printenv file output and saw the same as mine here)

Hi thanks for the reply, for compile the kernel and update in the device it's a complicated thing (I saw your tests to compile in the farm it's not easy to using the compiled kernel in the devices) ? If I disable the video completely means I will have the entire 1GB for the system right ? (or need to disable more things?)

I have 1 x Mecool KM8 P, S912, 1GB/8GB RAM/ROM, running 16.04 with kernel 3.14.29 too due kernel 4.xx don't run too, I have a question about your little nice farm have you managed to have more RAM available ? Here shows to me only 786 MB and the wifi I can't find so only working via ethernet cable ?

@balbes150hello thanks again for the effort all the good job.
I finally have my H96Pro+ Dongle running with debian server (kernel 3.14..) version and I wonder if have any way to release more memory to the system itself any tweak I can do or disable something just to running headless ?
Still I don't got any version with kernel 4.xx running yet to see if are better.

Hello any tip for me here with a H96 Pro Dongle (2GB + 8GB ROM) I can't find option to boot from sd card from update menu just check online for updates don't have option from local or sd card I have opened and see they have a label: "CZ - S47 - V3" so this means version 3 ? I only found info from V1 and V2

@AndrewDB very nice I will try later then for my KM8 follow your steps. But first what was your impression since I am running the kernel 3.14 here you saw any difference between the old 3.14 for 4.xx kernel series (more faster or just for have more updated and secure kernel or have more compatibility with the tv box) ?
