Both install run the same kernel (updated to that with self-built debs). Additionally the armbian-release does not seem to update. I assume this is normal behaviour, because when updating the system via apt-upgrade (or dpkg with new debs) the rootfs does not get updated. Is there a way to fix/update this? Or just copy the files from a generated full img? Regards, count-doku

I guess you downloaded in between another image and so you got the new MOTD. To bring stability into armbian, updating the whole system was stopped about 2 years ago. If you want bleeding edge and risk system instability go to armbian-config and turn on to receive latest updates, IIRC it is nightly. I found your message, because I want to pimp the https://forum.armbian.com/topic/13538-ssh-welcome-message/ . So, you may already found the answer yourself in the meantime
Heisath
Well thanks for the (late) reply. I fixed this in between, somehow my apt got detached and did not update the rootfs package.
