Armbianmonitor:

Hi,

2 weeks ago I upgraded my Cubietruck to newest Armbian version:

root@cubietruck04:/var/log# uname -a
Linux cubietruck04 5.10.4-sunxi #20.11.6 SMP Sun Jan 3 21:28:45 CET 2021 armv7l GNU/Linux

root@cubietruck04:/var/log# lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Debian
Description:    Debian GNU/Linux 10 (buster)
Release:        10
Codename:       buster

Since that upgrade the Cubie is crashing often compared to the last years ( every ~3 days), in the last 3 years I have never observed that. Please help me to find out the issue. From kern.log I see 2 different crash reasons:

Jan 27 16:32:54 cubietruck kernel: [532479.453218] Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00000120

Jan 30 07:03:30 cubietruck04 kernel: [48303.784688] Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address c0008f38

I'm using that Cubie as jenkins node (not for SW build, just as testing device). I installed (as far as I remember) additional packets: minicom, openjdk-11, jenkins client from jenkins web GUI. There is a VSCom Box 8 to 1 Serial -> USB converter connected, but also since years.

Probably something you installed.

Welcome to Armbian 20.11.6 Buster with Linux 5.10.4-sunxi
Linux cubietruck 5.10.4-sunxi #20.11.7 SMP Tue Jan 5 23:17:54 CET 2021 armv7l
System load: 8% Up time: 25 days 19:51

I had more or less similar crash issues with the previous version.

I had to disable ram logging for a while to find out the issue.

I also doubled my dev/zram1       97M   40M   51M  45% /var/log
