First of All... Great job on this Distro very much appreciated. Thanks.

I have a goal of running a real-time kernel on a H3 (NanoPi Neo preferably and or M1). Ultimate goal is to be able to run MachineKit on one of these (headless on Neo).

MachineKit requires a real-time kernel with RT_PREEMPT being the preferred choice it seems.

There are patches available for the kernel for 4.6 and 4.8. so we look to tracking close to the mainline with 4.7.6 considering 4.8 released on Oct 2nd.

I tried patching the Armbian Kernel and not unexpectedly I got a number of conflicts with previous patches and some rejects.

I am looking for some guidance here as to the best way to approach this (if at all).

ie should I be patching the mainline kernel first then applying armbian patches or  vice versa like I did?

Guidance on reversal or not etc. Also note I am a newbie at kernel building patching.

Thanks

Allan
