How to setup libwc--or any alternative wayland compositors?

Hello all,

 

I'm trying to setup libwc (preferred) or weston on my Mekotronics R58X (2023 edition)
But when I try and build any wayland compositor, I keep gettign this error:

ERROR: Dependency "wayland-server" not found, tried pkgconfig and cmake

But I appear to be running wayland:

mekotronics-r58x:weston:% echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE                         <main>
wayland

And when I search for it in apt, I'm only seeing libwayland installed/available:

mekotronics-r58x:weston:% apt search wayland-server                      <main>

I've tried installing libwc: https://github.com/labwc/labwc
but in order to do that I have to install wlroot--and I get the same error when trying to build

I've also tried weston: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/wayland/weston

My overall goal is to have a basic window compositor launch kodi in fullscreen on start--but also let's me run other applications.

Please advise if you have any input, or if  I am missing something

Hello，do you succeed? I'm doing the same thing, I ported wlroots-0.16 and labwc-0.6.2, but it will generate segmentation fault when I run a client App of Qt (myqtexample -platform wayland)

@hyyoxhk no. But I'm hoping enough time has passed for me to try again and succeed lol. Hopefully there's since been more Wayland development
