vooteleaer Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Hello folks I'm new here, but I have been looking for something to hang on for a while. Maybe you can help me. I purchased X3288 development board from Aliexpress https://www.aliexpress.com/item/ARM-Cortex-A17-Quad-Core-X3288-Development-Board-RK3288-2GB-DDR3-16GB-EMMC-7Inch-Capacitive-LCD/32812113794.html (Without LCD screen) Right now it has Android installed, but I would like to have just CLI linux installed, preferably Debian or related. I have long experience with Raspberry boards, but this is new to me. As I understand, the system needs to be flashed to internal partition, much like Android phones. However, the instructions I've been googling so far are very contradicting and confusing. I would like to do some hardware video encoding. Eventually I would use just RK3288 module on my own motherboard (with some custom electronics). Help!
TonyMac32 Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Hmmm, can you boot it from SD? You might be able to just try a tinker board image by swapping out a device tree (if you have one) for the board
vooteleaer Posted December 6, 2018 Author Posted December 6, 2018 I suspect no. It seems to be much like Android phone, there's separate bootloader flashing procedure and as I understand, the system image has to be flashed too via otg usb cable... Here's Linux install documentation: https://drive.google.com/file/d/188b_VJL55PTB58c5MVhOIIuTl6ewcg-8/view?usp=drivesdk
TonyMac32 Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 section 2.4.4 seems to suggest it is checking the SD before the eMMC, no button pushing or anything to boot the SD.
