Don't know. I saw ppl with km9 flashing km3 but it could brick your device. 1. I downgrade to android 8.1 as i wanted AOSP version. It may help. On my km8p i had to downgrade to android 6 to make armbian boot. Can't confirm it on km9. 2. sdcard is always better than usb stick on tv boxes. I can't find the source but it is. edit " first post. 3. Yes. I didn't had the exact name.. I did the test on my km9 - prepared the sdcard with Armbian_5.88_Aml-s905_Debian_buster_default_5.1.0_20190611 - select meson-g12a-x96-max.dtb in both uEnv.ini and extlinux.conf - I boot android as usual - select aml .zip from update - It boots but i have no eth interface

I don't know if there is a compatible dtb file for mecool device running 905X2 actually. I will try on my km9 tomorrow. Maybe you have to chose from your android update the aml zip file. Did you try that way ?

Hi there, As some of you (i guess) i want to update and upgrade to last debian and kernel version to test if it is better for my tv boxes (S905W, S912, S905X2) but before that i want to backup and possibly restore all the better way. Do someone have a hint for that ? Thanks I personnaly use portainer to manage docker images but never try it yet for disaster recovery or restoring data.

Do you have some dtb file to boot on km9 which use S905X2 SoC or it's not possible ? I received one and it run android 9 on kernel 4. If i can bring you more infos easily i will. Thanks.

You have to run update in your android and select to .zip file which is on the microsd of your linux to allow it to boot on your SD. I have a x96 mini and it works on armbian headless with 4.20 kernel.

Hi there, i have a question regarding the stability of my tv box. I actually use a km8p as a pihole box and every week it crashed and i have to hard reboot it to make it works again. Can someone give me a hint to see where logs can help knows where could be the problem? I was on 5.1 kernel when i got the prob so i reinstall the box from scratch with previous build in 4.20.5 and both got the problem. Last kern.log is just : Apr 11 04:01:29 localhost kernel: [ 92.903423] random: 7 urandom warning(s) missed due to ratelimiting Thanks.

You should try to downgrade your Android version like we have to do with mekool KM8P. Try kernel 3.14 armbian too just to check.

Mecool Km8-P 2G/16G working with Armbian 5.76 Debian stretch default 5.0.0 on eMMC. => Had to put android 6 image with old bootloader first. => Exclusively boot on SD not USB.

Stupid remark but why don't you use meson-gxm-q201.dtb instead iof meson-gxm-khadas-vim2.dtb ? I thought it was the file to use with s912 as i read about how AndrewDB made his tv boxes works.

Where did you buy the heat sink you put on your x96 mini ? I actually have a awful blue tack pad which try to dissipate with an awful piece of iron. Funky chinese thing! Can we use the heat sink set for raspberry on it ? Thanks.

Hi there, i'm new to the community. To sum up, i wanted to siwtch from a raspberry pi 3 to make a debian server (currently i do pi hole + pivpn box) but perf are awful, not much RAM and no mainline kernel for its SoC. I decide to go on Odroid C2 but as i'm French it is difficult to buy one. Finally i saw that some tv boxes which run armbian (thanks to balbes150.. :) ) with similar SoC. I decide then to buy the cheapest box i could : X96 Mini with S905W. I'm actually running armbian since 1 hour on usb key (i read since 4.20 emmc isn't supported anymore and don't want to brick it..). Which are the tweaks i have to make to maximise server and VPN performance ? I don't run desktop manager so i'm not sure if I can use GPU power to accelerate global perf. Last question : Do the mali script only could run on S905X or on all s905 derivatives ? Thanks ! :)
