The 20cm long USB plug to jack adapter i used seems to cause the problem. After replacing it with a new cable, the interruptions has gone. So no software/kernel problem it seems :-)

Now I try to use another power supply. Maybe the load regulation of the supply I used has gone bad.
Tomorrow I will get a powered USB hub as plan C...
