  1. Yes, but AFAIK on other TV boxes an internal install shouldn't touch vital portions of the emmc. And Rockchip devices should still boot from SDCARD?
  2. Is it possible to install Armbian into internal memory without jumping though hoops?
  3. Hello, I'm thinking of a possible use case for this box, but I would need to use the internal emmc. Is it still not possible to install armbian internally? What are these 2 partitions? SDcard? Well, I did post that image after @Lizzo69's request and you only have 2 posts more 😉
  4. Ok, get the files from here: https://mega.nz/folder/oSESxDTJ#9U3_TGFAGGW_8ep9z_aCKw I wrote the .img to an SDcard and then followed the instructions for the .dtb file. The SDcard has two partitions, inside the first there are the boot files and a folder named "dtb", I copied the "rk3528-vontar-dq08.dtb" file into the "rockchip" folder that is inside the "dtb" folder. I then edited the "armbianEnv.txt" file, changing this line: fdtfile=rockchip/rk3528-evb1-ddr4-v10.dtb into this: fdtfile=rockchip/rk3528-vontar-dq08.dtb
  5. @jpegqs Thanks! I've been able to successfuly compile and test it. I'm a bit disappointed since I expected a bit more performance from the CPU on this thing. One last question: What does the multitool.img do?
  6. Hello, I have one of those TV Boxes (DQ08) and I'd like to try to use Armbian with it. Since it's not a supported device I can't find info about what to download and what to do; Could someone point me to a tutorial or give me some info? Thanks.
  7. Thanks! Could you tell me what Armbian version and what dtb file you are using?
  8. Maybe... so 4 *512 KB ICs, but then why bother marking the ICs with different part-numbers? And what about the U-Boot? It reports: U-Boot 2015.01-ga4d8f5c-dirty (Dec 07 2017 - 19:23:54) DRAM: 3 GiB Why bother faking that? Who's ever gonna look at it? Is it possible to replace the boot loader with a "good" one? Burning tool 2.1.2 can't do it, even if I short the 2 ROM IC legs. Is there a better tool? @Nuno CruzYour machine seem the same as mine, how much RAM do you see in Armbian?
  9. Hello, I got an S10 tv box, one of the later released s912 3gb 32gb based machines with the encrypted boot-loader. All the builds only see 2 out of 3GB of RAM... @balbes150Is there a way to enable the hidden 3rd GB? Or any way to change/replace the newer/protected U-boot on these machines with another version? I also have a lot of RAM related issues, for example 7zr b seems to work, but after a while is killed because of no RAM?!?! The same also happens when you try to run some CPU intensive tasks, but it's NOT CPU temp related. Also Z-RAM works when system starts from SD-Card but for some reason doesn't work anymore when copied to MMC... And what about the 8223A WIFI chip? Is it possible to use it in any way?
  10. Hello, I've been using an OrangePi PC with legacy distribution for a long time as a mini-server, it worked Ok except for some seemingly random freeze. I'm using it with an unsupported monitor size (1600x1200), so I had a modded version, and I never updated the system files to avoid having to recompile. I'd like to update Armbian to the mainline kernel version, but I want to keep all my settings/additions/installed programs, so I'd prefer to NOT do a complete re-install. Is there a way to do an upgrade without losing everything?? If not, how can I keep track of all the modifications currently installed so I can re-install them? TIA
