  1. I've also tried firefly's official systems, both Ubuntu and Debian. I can confirm that the fan doesn't stop completely on neither of them. It slows down enough to keep noise low, just like it does with latest armbian image (thanks for that balbes150's)
  2. I've just tried waiting longer than 15 minutes but the lightdm screen didn't appear. Just the frozen mouse cursor on black background. Also tried switching to console (Ctrl+Alt+F2 right after boot) after setup was done, but nothing happened. It would just go again to the mouse cursor on black background. Also tried this key combination when the mouse coursor is on screen but no luck, as I didn't know when to input the Ctrl+Alt+F2 combination. Anyway, I've had the idea of using putty on my desktop PC and succeeded to access the M3's console. There I've typed sudo systemctl enable lightdm and rebooted. This worked. Thanks, I can now try the KDE!
  3. Just tried GNOME Armbian_23.02.0-trunk_Station-m3_jammy_legacy_5.10.110_gnome_desktop.img and it doesn't have this problem. I can access desktop without issues. I'd like to try the kde too, please help.
  4. Hi, I tried two of the images today, the 20230219 Armbian_23.02.0-trunk_Station-m3_jammy_legacy_5.10.110_kde-plasma_desktop.img and 20230217 Armbian_23.02.0-trunk_Station-m3_jammy_legacy_5.10.110_kde-plasma_desktop.img But both of these images just stop/freeze after creating the user account, at "entering the desktop environment". I just have the mouse coursor frozen in the middle of the screen on black background. FYI, I'm using a USB wireless Logitech mouse. I have waited like 10 minutes to see if will go through and then unplugged power and booted again. Still the same after reboot. It just stops after mouse coursor appears on the black screen. The older images (the ones that had full speed fan) didn't show this issue. Can you please advise? Thanks in advance.
  5. Firefly's support is not too helpful, at least on the M3. I gave up asking them for support. But I tried Firefly's Debian and Ubuntu images and those run the fan at normal/lower speed. I don't know much about this stuff and can't tell what drivers Firefly is using for that. Maybe you can take a look at their image as you know what to look for. I'd appreciate that. It could be useful for others as well.
  6. Tried the image mentioned above and it boots OK. Problem is that the cooling fan is running at full speed and it's noisy as hell. Is there a solution to make the fan run at lower speed?
  7. Thanks, will try Armbian_23.02.0-trunk_Station-m3_sid_legacy_5.10.110_xfce_desktop.img
  8. Hi, I've downloaded the latest two images from the links mentioned https://disk.yandex.ru/d/-zSW21XKN0pfIA/ArmbianTV/20230103-edge But none of them boot from SD on my M3 box. The only one booting is the image from this link https://redirect.armbian.com/station-m3/Bullseye_legacy_xfce But this makes the cooling fan on the M3 to always spin at full speed and it's not usable because of this (it's really noisy). How can I make the other images boot? Tried both Etcher and USBimager. Please help. Thanks.
  9. Hi gents, Can anyone share some knowledge on how to dual boot StationOS and Armbian? I've just installed a SATA 2242 ssd and would like to install Armbian on it. I've checked out the stationOS website and it says it's done via "OS Assistant" app which should be in the stationOS firmware. Problem is that there is no such OS Assistant app in the latest stationOS firmware which is installed on my M3 box. The M3 support is on holidays for the Chinese new year and there is no information on their wiki either. Also, if someone has this OS Assistant apk, can you share it please? Thanks.
  10. You're right, I removed the rubber feet without hurting them and the screws were under them. They will need new glue though. Had some trouble with one of the screws, which was stripped from the factory 🤔. I wasn't expecting that, as the box looks like it's made with good attention to detail...I had to use a dremmel in order to unscrew it. Now I need to add a sata 2242 ssd Thanks again for your input.
  11. Thanks @balbes for the quick answer. This is how the bottom box looks like. The two holes don't show any screw inside, they are empty. These actually have threads to insert some screw in them. The top of the box is totally flat and has a mirror finish, no sign of any screw. Neither the sides have any screw. So, the only places that might have screws are the rubber feet in the corners of the bottom. But these feel very easy to destroy if I wanted to remove them... I wrote to stationpc customer support, maybe they shed some light. Thanks again, you're a legend
  12. Hi guys, sorry if this question might sound stupid, but how do I open the M3 enclosure? There is no instruction in the manual, nor on the stationpc website. I just bought this little box and I am not sure if this has some screws or some other closing system. I can see the four rubber buffers on the bottom of the box, but I don't want to harm those without reason. Can anyone tell me how to disassemble the box? Thanks in advance.
  13. Hi DDA, This is a workable solution, thanks for suggesting it. The problem is that I didn't find yet a solution for acceptable/watchable playback of flash, Sopcast or Acestream video. (see my comment on this topic here: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/2419-armbian-for-amlogic-s905-and-s905x/?page=48&tab=comments#comment-51509 ) Therefore I'll stick to Android until I find that solution. Thank you, regards.
  14. Hello all, I have successfully installed and run different images with 3.14 kernel on my MXQ Pro+ 4K (S905X Mali-450 2GB/16GB) box. It all looks very nice but I am having a few but important video issues: 1. when trying to watch flash videos -like Youtube- on browsers (Chromium, Firefox), in fullscreen mode the image is stuttering and pretty unwatchable (on sports events, for example, where action should run smoothly). The small default window runs fine, only fullscreen is problematic. 2. Kodi 17 is rendering smooth image but it is always in fullscreen mode and cannot be modified to windowed mode. Therefore I cannot copy Ace stream or Sopcast links in order to paste and play them on Kodi's Plexus addon. I am new to Armbian/Linux and I don't know whether these video issues are solvable. Am I missing something? Can anyone help, please? Thank you.
  15. Yay, I have just installed nodm via armbian-config and it takes "root" user straight to the desktop. Nice! Thank you for pointing me to the right direction! (I first tried the Armbian_5.37_S9xxx_Ubuntu_xenial_3.14.29_mate_20171226.img.xz and it was behaving the same, so I reverted to Armbian_5.37_S9xxx_Ubuntu_xenial_3.14.29_mate_20180203 image) So now it's working as it expected (without wifi though, only ethernet). I only need some tool to backup the Android 7.1.2 (TWRP didn't work) and then install to eMMC. Do you know any method for a full backup of Android on this box? (I've tried the method described here: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/2419-armbian-for-amlogic-s905-and-s905x/ but I get some error regarding the backup location-I still didn't figure out how to select SD card for backup)
