  1. I've been looking for ways to fix this all afternoon but I'm giving up. I flash the latest version of the image with BalenaEtcher, it takes about 10 min approximately to boot. I log in I do the setup, and the partition / is only 2GB, I reboot the red light stops flashing and the board stays with a steady green light does not respond to ping. I pull the cable and start in armbian the partition is still the same at 2GB, I check the resize2fs service and it does not start. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, the PSU is working properly, I did a health test to the SD is also OK. I don't know what else to check.
  2. Tried a few builds such as https://github.com/armbian/community/releases/download/202248/Armbian_22.11.0-trunk_Nanopiduo_kinetic_edge_6.0.10.img.xz#nanopiduo and the image doesn't even expand. No heartbeat flaching. Not sure how to troubleshoot this.
  3. As I am a new Moderator and I am unfamiliar with this particular board software (apparently called "Invision Community"), I went looking for some docs... Came across https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invision_Community. The first thing I noticed is that it is proprietary software. Which I think is very out of character for a F/LOSS project at least alluding to the name Debian. Which carries a number of connotations, at least in my mind... Which is a whole another discussion, however... Secondly, a quick read through that Wikipedia article quickly reveals a number of documented cases of changing things on their users, going back on their word, etc. I see red flags all over the place. Not the sort of software I feel inclined to invest a lot of time into learning. But I am the new guy here, so... Has there ever been any discussion of perhaps changing forum software? Or why this one was even picked in the first place (familiarity, Jira or other integration, or...)? I did a few different searches (internally and externally) but couldn't come up with anything.
  4. I have two Rock64 single-board computers running Focal Fossa. One is stable and the other gets segmentation faults when compiling and sometimes a kernel oops. After some searching, my understanding is this can be fixed by slowing down the memory speed by installing rk3328_ddr_333MHz_v1.13.bin from the ayufan-rock64 GitHub repository into uboot along with possibly rk3328_miniloader_v2.46.bin as well. Unfortunately, I'm clueless how to do this. I'm running the latest Armbian Focal Fossa Server from August 19 with the 5.7.17 kernel. Do I need to build a new image or can I patch an existing SD card? I'm sorry if I there is already a thread on this. I searched and could not find enough information that would allow me to proceed on my own.
  5. Hi all! I need to back to an older kernel version that I had used past year. In my PC, I conserve without any kind of changes, the working directory used to run compile.sh. If I did not missunderstood my Armbian documentation reading, there is an option to tell compilation process that don't try to upgrade sources files before compile (touch .ignore_changes). Am I right? And, if it's fine, Could somebody please explain me where and how must I apply these parameter? Thanks in advances! Edit: You could ask. Why he want to re-compile if he has past_year.img file? The reason is I need to include kernel headers nad my old compilation does not have them. Mariano
  6. I started debian buster up and it started running through the black screen with non-graphics (doing this, doing that), then it got to ARMBIAN DEBIAN TTY1: login ... password. Is there a default login and password for this? If not, then there is something wrong with my download though I checked to make sure it was debian for orangepiplus2e desktop, and it is. This iso worked in the past and i have it saved on my ext hdd. UPDATE: I checked the checksum that I created with the checksum document that downloaded with the .img, and they are the same. I used "cp filename.img /dev/sdx" to copy the img to an microsd using a media card reader and it seemed to work fine. But upon loading, the file gets stuck slightly after it says "FAILED: NO NETWORK..." " failed to start network manager wait online". The "raw disk image" before copying to micro-sd is 2.3GB. 265be364d0a32e32251a90800a82837d578dbe48d19bf6968316422ca7f17214 *Armbian_5.93_Orangepiplus2e_Debian_buster_next_4.19.64_desktop.img Thanks.
  7. When using Discourse (forum software) on other forums, it will pop up a little box telling you when someone has made their first post, and encouraging you to welcome them. We don't have that exact same functionality here, but it is very easy to mouse over their avatar and see that it is their first post (Content Count 1). I sort of got into the habit of welcoming new people (in other places where that's encouraged) as I have always felt that the idea of "Community" is very important in F/LOSS. I even did it here, but only couple times so far. Just to try and make new people feel welcome. If we are lucky, maybe they will stick around, and eventually, contribute... However I get the sense that may be going against the existing culture here, which seems to be more serious. I feel like doing such things would be viewed as "polluting" a thread or going "off topic" etc. But my perception could of course be wrong, so I wanted to discuss the issue. Especially with @Igor and @balbes150 who already expressed their dislike of forum signatures. Also perhaps others? Please tag any such cranky minimalist people here (especially devs or other respected community members) so as to get their opinion on this.
  8. TRYING TO CLONE EMMC FROM ONE NEO CORE INTO ANOTHER. I found this link below : https://github.com/zador-blood-stained/fel-mass-storage I still don't know if it works since i had to enter FEL MODE which i could not. maybe i am trying in a wrong way. SO how could i get a clone EMMC of nanopi neo core (taking into consideration it might not have FEL mode)? but if it does then how to enter this mode? and how to run this clone on another nanopi neo core?
  9. hey, after updating my nanopct4 and rockpi-4b to from 20.05 to 20.08 RDP stopped working for me, only black screen. After reading all the messy logs, fresh install etc, I found a simple working solution online: In /etc/xrdp/startwm.sh change #!/bin/sh to #!/bin/bash Sources: https://github.com/neutrinolabs/xrdp/issues/1630 https://askubuntu.com/questions/1166568/remote-desktop-blue-screen-after-login Maybe others are affected too, don't know about Ubuntu.
  10. https://forum.armbian.com/guidelines/ I just dropped over this page by accident and I think this is the first time I have seen this since I registered I have my doubts that many actually reading those, last but not least it is a lot of text and most is already spreat around to places where it is actually important. So I suggest to simply remove the page due to lack of value.
  11. Not sure if this is the right forum to report this but - dl.armbian.com is redirecting me to https://minio.k-space.ee/armbian/dl/espressobin/u-boot/ which is throwing an error: NoSuchKeyThe specified key does not exist.dl/espressobin/u-boot/armbian/armbian/dl/espressobin/u-boot/163FA81E77EC23A1394e75a7-0234-4f85-9911-0a00ffd23a46
  12. Greetings everyone. I have sucessfully used Armbian Bionic in a production environment. Its really great. I am now evaluating Armbian Buster and I am seeing a strange issue perhaps you can direct me where to look so I can do troubleshooting. With the board connected to our corporate network, it takes about 48 hours when the whole board (OrangePi+ 2E) will crash with the CPU burning up. The second time it happened I had htop running to try and diagnose the problem. Investigation revealed that rngd became unstable due to the nm-applet. This led me to re-running the known conditions when this happens, with the network disconnected and now it doesn't crash. Below is a screenshot of the crashed state. Any ideas of where to look would be appreciated. My gut feel tells me this is network related and indeed, by disabling the network interface the problem goes away.
  13. QUESTION: I downloaded the BUSTER image (19.11.6 / 5.4.8) .img. In my .GNUPG directory, there is only an empty 'private keys' directory. Is this supposed to be like this or should there be 2 'text' documents next to the 'private keys' directory? One of my former buster downloads from a year ago or so, I know there were 2 simple text documents in the .gnupg directory. I am trying to learn how to send an encrypted message using gpg, but haven't been successful, yet. I was thinking that maybe there is a problem with my .gnupg directory and this is why I'm running into a snag with it. Thank you.
  14. @Igor suggested to put this on jira since there is a related topic, so please study there : https://armbian.atlassian.net/browse/AR-230?focusedCommentId=10278 @balbes150
  15. Strangely I am unable to view my message on this forum now.
  16. In need of a download url: orangepiplus2e debian buster; 32-bit.; saving to micro-sd, as in the past. Would like to download all 3 for debian buster 10.5.0: kde, gnome, cinnamon. - "if they exist". I tried the old link I used to download from that worked well: "https://dl.armbian.com/orangepiplus2e/Debian_Buster_Next_Desktop.7z" but 404 now. Would like to know where I could find the checksums too should someone know where they are. Thank you!
  17. BUSTER DESKTOP - GLOBAL: https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-plus-2e/#kernels-archive-all I downloaded this on 2 different computers and got a bad checksum when I ran "sha256sum name.img". Wondering if anyone else is as well? I may have remote access malware on my computer - could be causing it somehow, possibly. Thanks.
  18. Hi, I can't access the beta repository (either from the apt command on a armbian enabled board or my browser) : is there something I might look up on my side or is it general ? thanks !
  19. At the moment there are three sub-forums within common issues: Reviews, Research guides & tutorials and Hardware hacks. Those forums obviously do not receive much attention and the reason might be they are not that present like other forums (and surely new tutorials are not that often posted like issue complains ). Anyway I was thinking about how to bring more attention to these topics and reduce the amount of sub-forums the same time. What I came up with was the following idea: All topics within those forums will be marked with an appropriate prefix, mostly like the forums were called at the moment (so Review, Research/Tutorial and Hardware hack). This can be done in batch in no time. Then the three forums are being merged into one and moved as a unified forum from sub-forums status to a full forum right between Common issues and Feature Requests. New topics MUST be approved to make sure no BS or requests are posted there (latter should be done anywhere else). Based on the average activity there this should not lead into a significant amount of additional work (if any). And MUST have a prefix like described above. Choosing a prefix on topic creation can be enforced by forums software. Please let me know what do you think. PS: Yeah I know I should do other stuff in vacation than this
  20. Hello, I'm tearing my hair out. Help would be much appreciated. Initially, I installed Armbian on an SD card and successfully installed tvheadend and got the tuner to scan successfully. Great, or so I thought. Time to build my 'real' system on a eMMC. After many repeated builds, I cannot, for the life of me, get a successful scan. I'm using the 'predefined' network (UK Sutton Coldfield) which worked just fine before. I am running Armbian_20.08.1_Odroidn2_focal_current_5.8.5_desktop. Edit (can only post one per day). JMMC, what did I do different? Probably the order of things. I initially tried to install tvheadend via armbian-config, it didn't do anything. I installed from the repository. Did I do an 'update & upgrade' before that? Can't remember. Did I do an install firmware, full or part (from armbian-config) before or after? You see my point? Many combinations and permutations, tried a few but loosing track. I'll gladly accept your buster option. Thanks.
  21. I would like to re-enable the Governance_Maintainer page at the docs which has not been used and maintained for quite a while now. https://github.com/armbian/documentation/blob/master/docs/Governance_Maintainers_TBD.md From time to time I already adjusted the list to what I believe fits the current situation but I wanted to hear from you all what you think about it or maybe even why it should not receive attention/maintenance.
  22. Hi, I normally use Proxmox on Intel Nucs (also Buster based) and also had here usbip with some USB sticks on a USB hub. Now I decided to split that up a bit and so I got some ZeroPi devices and wanted to use them as USBIP hosts kind of. So I installed the buster image and also added usbip_host module to /etc/modules. The devices are seen by the Linux on the ZeroPi in general and also /usr/sbin/usbip list -l lists them successfully. Here the dmesg output too: [ 350.174305] usb 4-1: new high-speed USB device number 6 using ehci-platform [ 350.331127] usb 4-1: New USB device found, idVendor=1a40, idProduct=0101, bcdDevice= 1.11 [ 350.331149] usb 4-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=0, Product=1, SerialNumber=0 [ 350.331163] usb 4-1: Product: USB 2.0 Hub [ 350.332407] hub 4-1:1.0: USB hub found [ 350.332615] hub 4-1:1.0: 4 ports detected [ 350.738278] usb 4-1.2: new full-speed USB device number 7 using ehci-platform [ 350.968886] usb 4-1.2: New USB device found, idVendor=067b, idProduct=2303, bcdDevice= 3.00 [ 350.968907] usb 4-1.2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0 [ 350.968922] usb 4-1.2: Product: USB-Serial Controller [ 350.968935] usb 4-1.2: Manufacturer: Prolific Technology Inc. The example above shows the (in this case case-sensitive) expression OOB (you see it is "underdot'ed") with the explanation "out of the box" while pointing with the cursor on it. 24. Hi, I have and Orange Pi PC board on which I'm trying to use Armbian from yestarday, "trying" because I have several different problems on which I investigated also on this forum, but I'm unable to solve at the moment (the reason because I'm writing here). Let's start from the beginning. I downloaded the armbian image from armbian website (https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-pc/), version I'm using now is Armbian 20.08.1 Buster with Linux 5.8.5-sunxi, but I have tried also other versions with exact same behaviour. The first problem is time synchronization root@orangepipc:~# timedatectl Local time: Thu 2020-09-03 16:34:17 CEST Universal time: Thu 2020-09-03 14:34:17 UTC RTC time: Thu 1970-01-01 07:54:18 Time zone: Europe/Rome (CEST, +0200) System clock synchronized: no NTP service: inactive RTC in local TZ: no In this forum I found that a possible solution could be uninstall/install chrony, but if I'm able to remove this I'm not able to reinstall root@orangepipc:~# apt install chrony Reading package lists...
