Yes, plus2 just has more memory. This should work.

 

This will work since Plus and Plus 2 are supposed to be pretty identical from the software side of things. But apart from that these two boards are completely different. It's not only more DRAM but it's also a different DRAM type that needs 'reliability testing' (which is not possible currently since lima-memtester fails to run on H3 boards with more than 1GB DRAM), it's twice the eMMC capacity and a whole new SBC layout rearranging all connectors except of USB and Ethernet:

Regarding missing 'DRAM reliability testing' it should be noted that Xunlong donated one Plus 2E (same amount and type of DRAM) to ssvb, the linux-sunxi dev who developed lima-memtester, so we might soon get a fix and can start to test. And also Armbian uses on all H3 boards DRAM clock settings with some safety headroom since you can not trust in datasheets talking about 'hey, 672MHz clockspeed are ok'. So we use 624 MHz now.
