Raulin Posted October 7, 2021 Posted October 7, 2021 Hello and greetings to the community, I have already been using the Armbian operating system, almost at the beginning of the year, a good, very stable distribution for this type of boxes, also with very important functions and applications, but I have a query, is it possible to update the kernel in this type of box ?, I am using the kernel inherited from the startup installation (4.4.194-rk322x), if it is possible, how is the procedure? and another query, when I want to restart the system, it does not restart but turns off, either with the option "restart" from the system itself or with the command "reboot from the terminal, in both cases the system turns off and I have to turn on again From scratch, I have tried to use / usr / sbin / reboot and it shows me a window like this: how should the configuration be? the nano editor, shows garbage characters in lines, more than two thousand, what configuration should this window ha ( I wanted to send an image, but they can't be uploaded) ...... thank you very much for your response and a cordial greeting to the community .....otherwise the system is excellent......
jock Posted October 9, 2021 Posted October 9, 2021 Legacy kernel is provided by rockchip, you installed legacy kernel and rockchip does not provide updates. So no kernel updates for you. You can although move to mainline current kernel, which will receive regular updates. Use armbian-config to do so, but do that only if it is suitable for your system! (NAND is not supported, SSV6051/6251 wifi is not supported) About the reboot issue, since I don't know anything about your system and due to the huge variety of tvboxes around, you have to solve that on your own.
