Is it possible to get good performance from a video player in the CLI playing 1080 video?

Hi all.  Performance from my testing of playing video via VLC of a 1080p click (encoded at 10mbps) was very bad, unusable basically. 

 

Does anyone have any tips for programs or configuration to get reliable 1080 video running, ideally without having to use something inside of xwindows ?

4K is not a problem with the proper encoding. You need to use gstreamer on Armbian or official images. gst123 if you are using weston.
