OPI Zero - Use USB OTG as another USB port

Hi Everyone.

I have an Orange Pi One and I can use the micro USB (otg) port as a standard USB port - I can plug in a memory stick or USB speakers and it works fine.

Is it possible to have the same functioniality with the OPI Zero? I tried and it does not work - I am powering the board through the GPIO header. Even if I plug in USB speakers that have an LED indication - no LED lights, so I guess no power.

I looked at the fex file from the OPI One and could not see the difference there in the OPI Zero.

I know it is in beta, so I do not expect it straight away, but it would be good to know if it is possible

Thanks for any help.

J

Check schematics, powering scheme is different here. I would assume the Zero simply doesn't provide power on the Micro USB port since this is DC-IN. You could test this with a powered hub (dangerous since the crappy ones power back the device and might destroy it) or simply with any USB peripheral that has its own power source (a 3.5" disk for example).
