socal Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 (edited) EDIT: I am using the Armbian 23.5.5 Orange Pi 5 Plus Jammy Legacy 5.10.160 Gnome Desktop image Let me preface this with I am a Linux noob and this is one step below black magic voodoo to me. For some reason my Orange Pi 5 Plus USB 3.0 ports are no longer functioning. I setup my OPi at my testing station and everything was working fine (except I couldn't get my WiFi dongle to work but that's a different post) After I turned off my Orange Pi 5 Plus, disconnected it and set it back up where it was going to be staged now the USB 3.0 ports no longer function. Putting in the "lsusb" command shows all my ports, including the non-functional USB 3.0 ports, but I can't get the 3.0 ports to work. The USB 2.0 ports are completely fine and functional. Does anyone know why the USB 3.0 ports stopped working and how to get them functioning again? Edited August 11, 2023 by socal Updated which image I am using 0 Quote
socal Posted August 14, 2023 Author Posted August 14, 2023 Oh look, complete crickets on yet another support post. Still haven't figured this problem out. 0 Quote
chuckles67 Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 I have same problem - but with an OrangePi 5 board (not Plus) - the two blue colored USB ports are not working. I tried OrangePi's Ubuntu OS and that didn't fix the issue. Wondering if my board has hardware fault 0 Quote
NicoD Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Both of you should leave logs. Is there any voltage on the ports? Might be dead ports. On my OPi5 a cap fell of when unpacking it. But all still works. 0 Quote
schwar3kat Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 What are you plugging into the USB3 ports? Is your power supply capable of supplying enough current? If you measure USB3 inline voltage does it drop when you plug in the device? I am running the same Kernel version on OPi 5+ and my USB3 ports work with externally powered HDD's. Kernel and firmware upgrades disabled on mine. 0 Quote
SerW Posted October 2, 2023 Posted October 2, 2023 My USB 3.0 ports @ Orange Pi 5B are not working with Orico NVMe Exclosure. 0 Quote
chuckles67 Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 (edited) My USB3.0 ports (blue colored) on OrangePi 5 are not supplying any power - tested with Anker USB hub and with Realtek BT/Wifi dongle (both work on the USB2.0 port (white colored). Everything looks fine in the dmesg log, so I'm thinking this hardware issue between the controller and the physical sockets.: [ 3.612366] reg-fixed-voltage vcc5v0-usbdcin: Looking up vin-supply from chuckles67 Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 (edited) ... when I run `dmesg -w` and then plug USB hub or USB BT/WiFI dongle into the blue colored USB3.0 ports the dmesg does not update. Edited October 22, 2023 by chuckles67 0 Quote
maskimko Posted April 15 Posted April 15 I got the same. I believe this is because of the lack of power. I will try to test it with additional HDD power supply cables, and see if it works. 0 Quote
