Trashed eMMC on s805 TV Box. Recoverable?

Hi,

So I trashed the eMMC on my Amlogic s805 based TV Box, with 1GB RAM and 2GB eMMC.

Getting it into mask ROM mode is easy enough, but how to resurrect the eMMC, so that I can boot Armbian off an SD card, is a total mystery.

Can it be done, and if so...how?

Any advice, or direction to said, greatly appreciated.

Yes, thanks SteelMan.

The USB device shows up on Linux with lsusb as M8-CHIP. The M2M cable is good.

With WorldCup driver installed on Windows, there's no connection with the Aml_USB_Burn_Tool.

Love to get the Amlogic_Flash_Tool to go, and just burn a boot.img, but that seems to require an ADB service, which, with only mask rom mode to work with, I don't appear to have.

Any cthoughts?

Okay, it seems I can get Amlogic_Flash_Tool to connect with the TV Box when it's in mask rom mode.

I can flash images to the eMMC, but I don't understand how to reinstate a bootloader. Do I use the 'custom block' option, with a setting like /dev/block/???? ?.

I suspect I'll need a bootloader that can initialise both DRAM and, unusually, an eMMC. Where I can get such???

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Okay, I got the Aml_USB_Burn_Tool to connect through a different USB port, with the TV Box in mask rom mode.

Think I found a suitable USB upgrade image.

Burn proceeds to 4%, when it throws an error:

[0x32030201]UBOOT/????/DiskInitial????

Tried every option, except 'input password', which I don't understand.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Okay, if other posts are correct, I'm trying to use an incompatible image to flash the eMMC.

Unless anybody knows where I can get firmware for a SHENZHEN GIEC ELECTRONICS CO., LTD, GK-MP1515, popularly sold as a WORLDMAXTV QUAD TV Box, then I'm done.

Hmm...I wonder how much work goes into compiling one's own, compatible U-BOOT binary?
