Armbian on Mecool KI PRO

Hello. I'm trying to install Armbian on my KI pro coming from Coreelec, I've succesfully restored the boot logic using this https://wiki.coreelec.org/coreelec:restore and selected the right u-boot, it boots ok.

 

Ive tried several dtb files but no one works like expected, also tried my current dtb from coreelec but same behaviour.

 

I have these messages like this one [ 164.092003] meson-gx-mmc d0070000.mmc: unaligned sg len 720 blksize 512, disabling descriptor DMA for transfer and also some other related to eth port. I guess its due to kernel version or armbian itself version (tried the latest community maintained for tv boxes).

 

My question is, can I change kernel version to an older one even though the latest build is compiled for kernel 6.13? In that case how can i do that? Im not that noob in terms of linux in general but there are some things that I need to learn.

 

I hope someone could guide me to successfully install armbian. Thank you!

If you are using kernel 6.13 you are using the 'edge' kernel (i.e. development kernel).  You likely want to use a 'current' build which will be a 6.12 kernel.

When you say "doesn't work as expected", what exactly isn't working?

Hello SteeMan, Ive tried Armbian 6.12 (Ubuntu), chose u-boot-s905x-s912 and as dtb meson-gxl-s905d-p230.dtb. Now it works as expected thank you very much for your help. My next move is to install armbian to emmc to increase IO speeds. Anything to take into account before doing it?

 

Edit: currentily CE 9.2.8 is installed in emmc

Never tried an emmc install with CE installed.  I have no idea if that will work or not.

Would it be possible to reflash stock android if something goes wrong?

If you have the android image and the proper amlogic tools, yes.
