Hi,

I just downloaded this image from here (this is the link i copied from the bananapipro site): https://dl.armbian.com/bananapipro/Debian_stretch_next.7z

and i got Armbian_5.38_Bananapipro_Debian_stretch_next_4.14.14.7z on my disk.

Unpacked it and put it on my sdcard with etcher. Tried to mount it as loop device --> error. Checked with gparted --> it said /dev/sdc1 is not ok. Repaired it with gparted and could mount it.

Put it with etcher on the card. --> Bananpipro does not boot. Red light is the only one that shows up, none of the other led is blinking.

What can i do?

best regards Ralf

https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Getting-Started/ short: test your SD-Card (f3, h2testw), check download authenticity,  burn with etcher.

If it doesn't work, stick USB-UART to the debug port and report a bootlog from the serial console. There should be no need of 'fixing something'... Images provided here:

https://www.armbian.com/banana-pi-pro/

should be tested and should work and one of these is 'Armbian_5.38_Bananapipro_Debian_stretch_next_4.14.14.7z'.

thanks for your hints.

I checked the with "shasum -a 256 -c sha256sum.sha Armbian_*.img"

in the first line it said ok to the image, but after that thousands of lines with errors came and it ended with:

shasum:     703 non-free/source/Sources.gz: No such file or directory
703 non-free/source/Sources.gz: FAILED open or read
shasum:     772 non-free/source/Sources.xz: No such file or directory
772 non-free/source/Sources.xz: FAILED open or read
shasum: WARNING: 10213448 lines are improperly formatted
shasum: WARNING: 2077 listed files could not be read

It is not the card, i can boot with the old image (wheezy) from this card.

The first line with ok wasn't in the buffer anymore.

More hints please. I think the image is not ok.

I found the reason by accident.

Bananapi Pro does not sent one bit to the hdmi port, and does not start network if  hdd is connected.

If i pull the SATA cable of, the bananapro starts nice.

SATA means you also power the HDD/SSD from your board? might be related to bad powering your board?

The power for sata is coming from the Bananpi board. it was never a Problem with bananian. After configuring the bananapi, it started with hdd again without problems.

So for me it is solved, but still curious why it did not work with hdd.

thanks

Ralf

It can be that your PSU starts to die.. Might be worth to check it.
