light display manager started successfully but no gui

Hello,

 

i installed the newest ubuntu img on the box(aside on the sd card running). Now i get through the setup questions for logon. Only error i get is that the logon server doesn't work well. Anyway it boots now saying 'light display manager' started successfully, but there's no graphic gui to be seen. All the control f buttons don't work, or i get a scrambled screen but no gui.

 

Can someone tell me what i can do to get into the graphic user interface? I was already doing the putty logon thing.
