  1. Can anyone recomend any displays to be used with these boards?

Current options i have are "modified keychain / photoframe" attached to usb bus and or standard HDMI devices

im thinking along the lines of an LVDS displayor something driven from the GPIO pins, has anyone any experience with this or am i alone in the dark?

Links would be good as this may also benefit others.

EDIT : scratch that for the Opi-One, its a camera connector.. will stick with the hacked photoframe idea

  2. There are many people who tend to use old phone chargers on there systems and wonder why things become problematic after a good while of usage.

My recommendations to people who have this issue are the following

1 - if you are a *SERIOUS* modder or electronics engineer you will know all about bench power supplies and there benefits.

2 - for others who aren't in this category. I would like to share with you my preferred method to deliver power to dev boards. I utilse these shown in the link below.

I have found these type to be incredibly stable after 18 months of running one nonstop on a live system i can happily describe them as rock solid and superbly over engineered for the task at hand.

DISCLAIMER - I am in no way affiliated with the suppliers shown in the link but using it as a visual representation of the power units i have found to be very good

  3. just as a thought before I do, have you tried the following

    1. Do you have the codec(s) installed to actually play the file you are hoping to play?

2 Deactivate the soundtrack inside vlc player and then activate it again

    3. Open VLC > tools> preferences>audio > output module select waveout audio output> select "relevant/alternate sound output device" save.

    4. Do the VLC sound output setting match those of the desktop default device?

    5. Are you running an up to date version as found at the VLC website?

  4. Is possible to switch to a completely localized version (Spanish I mean in my case) of the LXDE Desktop?

    Thanks.

Yes : perform the following and you will get everything you need - works from the "server build" and or the "desktop build"

copy and paste the below line as root - this will give you a full LXDE deskop

    apt-get update ; apt-get upgrade; apt-get install keyboard-configuration locales tzdata console-data task-lxde-desktop --install-recommends -f -y

then do the following to set system locales and keyboard settings specific to your region.

    dpkg-reconfigure locales

    dpkg-reconfigure tzdata

    dpkg-reconfigure console-data

    dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration

  5. The best advice i can give to anyone around physical cooling of a chipset is the following.

1 always have good unimpeded airflow around your device.

2 dont stick it near or on another heat source if you are passively cooling

3 use copper heatsinks with good quality thermal cement / glue, if copper heatsinks are not an option, look for a heatsink with good surface area, ie tall and   lots of fins.

4 if you are still running at what you perceive to be too hot, then look to add a fan to extract the hot air away from your device.

copper heatsinks like this are always good

  6. IMHO - wikis are a great thing to have, but can be very time consuming to setup with agreed formats, images, page layouts etc. then there is the pre-population of the wiki itself.

I don't wish to appear down on the idea, in fact if there was one, i volunteer to assist, just trying to make people aware of the initial overhead associated with creating and maintaining a wiki

    WIKI - GOOD!

  7. Hello all

And firstly I would like to congratulate you and thank you for a cracking little distro.

I recently purchased an OrangePi-One amid all the hype of the Pi-Zero to give the Opi a try out. after having tried the images available on the manufacturers site and learning there shortcomings I resolved to build my own image. I was pointed to your site by a member over at http://forum.doozan.com and I must say I am blown away by what you have achieved and distribute!!!

You have saved me the pain of building my own OS by applying all the relevant patches. I will be testing your images out for my own needs and should I be able to make any contribution over and above "testing" I will do so.

KUDOS to the Devs and Contributors!
