@Dragao my little 2 cents thought : I "SUPPOSE" your uart is just in the middle between processor and ddr on left ( and I guessed was under heatsink and I also told you) and you have connected in a total different place close to display , that was accessible even before remove heatsink... -

@kruzer many many pads are UNDER the heatsink , specially when the heatsink is so big it could hide uart pads. Not a RULE but a good starting point From your photo I can guess a " starting uart pads" just before hidden by heatsink. I thing the arrow is 5volt..... and then starts uart -

@Dragao few days ago was told to provide a bootlog and a uart connection info for help debugger to debug problems. Your answer is " how can compile by myself........" You don't ever know what is going on and you want compile some thing new adding problems on problems ? You said you want help : well .........provide logs from uart If you haven't or not able to provide one, compiling new kernel WON'T HELP to boot your board -
@ArkhanLK I met @jock on the net quite TWO 2 years ago , when I started this adventure with 322x boxes and for some LONG time my question was always the same: how obtain a good desktop experience and at the same time a good harware acceleration for playing videos on this boxes and infamous mali 400 driver. The answer is not so nice : at the state of the art OR you have a decent desktop, OR you have good videos. Both is still problematic. To have full video HW acceleration in some manner is needed switch off the desktop and go on GBM driver. And also I suspect you cannot use exynos driver on your board. An old attempt done by rockchip itself to have a satisfactory both xorg and video experience was made on debian 9 stretch and modded gstreamer and MPV player This is how xorg.conf looks like: name of the file : 20-armsoc.conf content : Section "Device" Identifier "Mali FBDEV" Driver "armsoc" Option "fbdev" "/dev/fb0" Option "Fimg2DExa" "false" Option "DRI2" "true" Option "DRI2_PAGE_FLIP" "false" Option "DRI2_WAIT_VSYNC" "true" Option "SWcursorLCD" "false" EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "DefaultScreen" Device "Mali FBDEV" DefaultDepth 24 EndSection but i repeat this worked on old debian 9 stretch rootfs and allowed play decent videos ( but losing the mouse control for a while... ) And this APART of broken dm greeter, that is another problem

@Dragao hello ty for answer but this is not pointing finger on one person or on another person, it isn't in my style point finger because me too have been noob , is merely an explication why things on 322x are very " mature" and on 3318 is still some head bumping in the wall lack of hardware !!!! We experimented on just ONE , but accordling to rockchip philosofy discover on one is half road to port on others of same family And don't worry, I didn't knew NOTHING of compile until no more than 2 years ago, and you can understand frustration because I would have my personal success !!!! I can only say that( JUST ONE EXAMPLE ) the uart pad of my 3318 were HIDDEN under heat sink of cpu and I discovered only because I never give up and because I own oscilloscope and other tools so i tested every single pad of the circuitry and finally discovered. As you can imagine, night and nights sleepless for......what ? Just discovering were the devilish uart signal was But, in other way, if people not even knows how to attach a uart - ttl converter , or doesn't own one , at actual state is more a guessing than a " developing" -

Hello all nice people, let me do this post since I repute it very important. There is a lot of people actively deploying things on rk 322x and rk 3318, some media oriented things ( libreelec, kodi ) some desktop and servers applications. Now.......it happens that @jock and my self are actively working on those two platforms because I was so lucky in the past to buy for really few bucks ( and i say FEW ) more than 50 different boards reputed faulty, and there were not, just wrong firmware. But in this big STOCK of boards mostly were 322x ( 3228 3228a 3229 ) and ONLY ONE was 3318,and again I repeat just ONE 3318 So it happens that quite EVERY question on 322x we can answer with sufficient level of accurancy, but on 3318 our experience is limited on HK1, that is a circle box without display. Every single help, every single uart log, bootlog any elselog is a mine of infos for us, in particular @jock , but at the same time is really hard provide you a satisfactory answer without debug info, our crystal ball is actually broken Help us to help you providing as much infos possible and not just saying " it doesn't boot" because in that way is a hard stuff to solve. Thanks -
@beretas I definetly LOVE this chinos As @jock said in a past post is quite improbable that will be 4 gb RAM but more realistic only 2 such as it will be a 16 gb ROM. But apart of this.... it is android 11 and the kernel is yet a 3.10.104 that is the same used for android 6 If you have uart and other tools your infos will be absolutely welcome
-
@gnusmag45 don't panic those boards are unbrickables if no phisycal damage occurs. Let's wait @jock
-
@gnusmag45 don't worry about english , me too I'n mot native. Ok let' s see what @jock suggests about this emmc related problem And PEOPLE don't forget to put a simple like ( the heart icom ) to help good reputation of people here.
-
@gnusmag45 read again the 3ad , all infos, you will see that some boards came with NAND and not EMMC and I guess this is your case. You should follow the STEP-NAND instructions instead and see if this fits to you

@Tucano2000 This is a very aggressive way to find the exact clock-pin of emmc and also very DANGEROUS. Luckly throught 1k resistor the current will be quite low, but the possibility to destroy some cmos part is still HIGH. The only way to be sure that you managing the righ emmc clock point is discovering it with an OSCILLOSCOPE , as I did the very first time i managed to find on my board, but again unfortunately my board is different from yours !!!!!!! And as @jock already said , is needed more debug informations. Without a UART log we are pretty blind and also trying to help you is at the moment hard because lack of infos ( wrong ddrbin ? wrong trust-os?? wrong u-boot??? ) -
one of the best approach ever is open the box and see the ddr chip name and google for it. In the hope that our proucer didn't re-brand even the chip

This world of tvboxes is a jungle, where every morning a gazelle wakes up and have to run to survive ...we know the rest of the story !!! The effort of bringing a form of " stability " on them was not easy and only possible because @jock and myself had some spare board to play with , autopsy and personally even lobotomizing since i found TONS of emmc faulty on hk1 circle tvbox, so I removed with hot air and now working only from SD. That is the reason we GREATLY thank every single user that is willing to test this work and help us to go every day better, but the road to have distros in some official and certified manner is still long. -

@Generic_user I deeply suspect your power supply is defective.Something in the loop voltage control is broken and instead having correct retro-action control it gives you maximum voltage PLEASE DON'T USE IT ANYMORE on any other box !! All these board are 5 volt and i can guarantee the initial step-down dc/dc converter HARDLY support high voltage for long time period. Let's say is quite more tha a suspect that you board is fried . Cannot confirm but.... If you have some electronic skill you should misure ( tipically on the output ceramic capacitors ) on the various small ic's dc-dc converters voltages of: 3.3 volt 1.8 volts 1.1 volts And also try touch with a finger the step-down converters , the cpu itself and the ram if they are hot -
I know that tools for amlogic too and those mentioned in this 3ad aren't so different. Basically they " open" the img by searching some " headers" in the bin and extract the righ information. Scroll back to search for these tools on this forum and give them a try on the backup you have . I guess something will come out About 45/50 is ok then the strike points for temperature protection are already been mentioned by @jock

@RaptorSDS wrong 3ad sorry my bad@jock -
@RaptorSDS if you have original rom image you can use some tools ( if you scroll and read the whole 3ad those tools have been published several times ) to extract the dtb . Not sure i those tools work even on a backup img but I guess yes ! It seems to me it is a board sometimes called SARDINE , I have on but different wifi, all is working on mine About temperature .. put finger CLOSE to heatsink or even touch it .. if you are not burned and feel the temperature quite confortable, well is just an error in temperature reading. Consider that temperature higher of 60 celsius are unconfortable for persons

@jock Great great work, as usual Jock !!!! -
@KSilva bom dia , good morning Well , yes just male to male do NOTHING You should : 1) un plug the power 2) press the little switch " boot" 3) while PRESSING boot insert the male male ( HAVE YOU CROSSED THE WIRES IN USB CABLE ??? ) and see if lsusb changes. I usually do this under windows because suddenly a sound "bling blong" is coming out if the usb subsystem recognizes a device If not in one usb port, do the above from scratch in the other usb. If lsusb or windows recognizes a new device changed we are a step further If the above not working 1) un plug the power 2) shorten the clock 3) insert the male male ( HAVE YOU CROSSED THE WIRES, I ask again ??? ) in one usb port or another and see if lsusb changes or sound coming out from windows if lsusb changes REMOVE the shorten on the emmc clock and from this moment we must do some other steps but let check if we go here !!!
-
@rlukas210 yes your board is well known and also quite good supported. I am happy and satisfied it is working now
-
that is for android 3.10.xxx and we are on kernel 4.4.xxx and yes .. we already have that too
-
@Alex83 I have a remote box modded by me with external antenna and I do access to it ONLY via wifi Why your board doesn't answer you sometimes ? I access to it ONLY via ssh and it isn't in my home but about 900 mt from me.. and I chit chat with it every moment And then ... 20 mega of band... you can achieve 72 but it is half duplex so maybe 36..... and considering throttle and headers.. if you go at 20/25 consider lucky and ty but that pdf we already have.. the problem is source code :-(

no it is not strange , when you WIPE emmc you have NOTHING in the board, only the MASKROM mode that is buried in the SOC. maskrom is even early than idbloader; maskrom resides in SOC, idbloader resides in nand or emmc. BUT..... since you are speaking to maskrom via teh USB subsystem ...... you cannot speak to the nand/emmc UNTIL you load at least idbloader. That is the reason why rkdeveloptool doesn't give any command: in this moment rkdeveloptool does not even know of the existence of the nand/emmc Once via the maskrom-usb set of instruction you load a idbloader ( something that initializes the ddr and the internal storage nand/emmc) , well starting from THIS moment rkdeveloptool can speak with the nand/emmc NOTE that you can just upload the idbloader : ./rkdeveloptool db loader-bla-bla.bin OR you can upload and the BURN.. in this second case: ./rkdeveloptool db loader-bla-bla.bin and then ./rkdeveloptool ul loader-bla-bla.bin Some very INTERESTING studies by @jock revealed that is also usefull program the idbloader with another tool calle upgrade_tool that provides a sort of " formattation" of internal storage. Once idbloader is in place , well we can start speaking of which type of OS ( android or linux) we can flash into the board Hope this helps
