He flahsed Armbian_22.11.1_Rk322x-box_jammy_current_5.15.80_xfce_desktop.img.xz in other words a 5.15.80 kernel Do we need other words?

@RaptorSDS I think that you said It in the best possible way. A so huge 3ad Is boring, i understand that is easier to drop in here and simply ASK !! But a community Is not working this way, also because in 69 Pages Is already contemplate every single info for error debugging, and even more ! And even if box still not working Is clearly explained what TRY TO INVESTIGATE Thanks you so much raptorsds for helping

@ego worker Just phisically have the board in our hands !!!! This Is the best hint we can give About the tutorial, this 3ad Is a big tutorial. Here you can find infos on boot process, logs, other bugs we found ( DDR timing, trust, other, cec) Just go with trials and errors as we already have done or donate a sample for the purpose

This board Is very well supported, It was the first I have investigated. It doesn t start because Is not founding the rootfs You MUST use any image with LEGACY KERNEL 4.4.XXX

@fangis I have a tx9 with allwinner cpu That is the reason i CONTINUE to claim that commercial names are fake. It would be so easy to put a male-male USB cable and look what PID and VID Is coming out

@art3mis_17 your board is ddr3 and nand storage NOT EMMC Is suggested go find a working sd adapter because you need stePnand method by multitool As alternate method you can try to flash android image on It. You can device device for sure but need some tools as a good sd

@ojogoperdi I am SURE you read the whole 3ad ( did you, isn't it ??? ) and I am SURE you and your team realized that multitool is based upon LEGACY kernel that is the MOST COMPATIBLE ever kernel tha t boots quite every box This said , I am also sure you and your team realized that saying TX9 box is a little bit as saying "water".. Sparkling ? Flat ? Cold? Warm ? Salty? With sugar ? TX9 means NOTHING is just a commercial brand !!!! It seems it is emmc from what you wrote and emmc are the easiest to boot since they don't mess with nand and FTL . To be sure it always boots from external sd is enough to erase the flash and it will boot form the stuff on the sd. I believe you already read this: https://opensource.rock-chips.com/wiki_Boot_option DDR2 ? DDR3? the ram is 1T or 2T ?? The only way to anser to a failing boot is attach a UART to the box I don't personally know this box so I cannot point you where rxd txd are on it, if present or just hiddend pads but I guess in your university you own an oscilloscope to further investigate where serial signals are About new kernels they should boot quite smoothly even from SD since the early stages of booting ( idbloader and trust or optee in his opensource version should be already in the right places) but missing uart log it is difficult to give you an answer As last resource we wait for a @jock 's answer regarding this behaviour but without serial log is a bit a nightmare Regards

@EmilB beg pardon I realized you asked to boot from USB well the uboot is complicated, a bit refusing to boot straight from USB , sometimes uboot doesn't wake up correctly the usb and other devilish things But you can boot from internal kernel, dtb, init and then simpy passing the whole control to external rootfs I always do this when i want real hard disk spinning the os

@MattWestB this in not true Matt ! Infact the "hacked" multitool by emilb is booting and is booting from SD that IS AN EXTERNAL STORANGE !! and arranging the env or/and the commandline could even transfer to a real external usb drive all the process @EmilB indeed your board is a 3229 since efuse is quite hard to " hack and fake" and 3229 are really horse power. I guess you have maybe ddr3 would you upload a photo or take a look here , the post where ALL BEGAN, maybe you have same board. the aproach on this post is still based on repalcing internal parameters, we moved on zapping all and having a real gpt partition https://forum.armbian.com/topic/12401-long-story-linux-on-rk3229-rockchip/ But I guess you are " mixing up " too many things. What do you wanto to achieve ? Boot from external storage totally ?? ( very easy indeed) Install armbian on nand? ( remember that newer kernels are not gentle with nand) What is your purpose ?

@guitoscan Welcome in the club 🙃 rk322x are often " assembled" with the first avaible piece of chip laying around in producer factory. We have spent now more than 3 years reading of rkdevelootools android tools factory tools and so on and yet no clue with some boards we dont own

@Himera no, we actually don't work on 3128 that is very very old comparing to 322x

@Himera I am not sure it is a rockchip It could be an amlogic s915 if you have a usb-ttl adapter you can try to grab more infos or you could try to GENTLE remove the heat sink and read cpu code
