the v4 update.img and v5 update.img can not change the partition so the box would boot fail with the maskrom state, it need to be flashed the u-boot.img and MiniLoader.bin to specify the partition name, like Uboot and Loader I will try it later @hotnikq the reason is below, from RKDevTool_manual_v1.2_en.pdf RKDevTool_manual_v1.2_en.pdf
