  1. Hello, Installed some updates recently on OrangePi PC Plus and after reboot I'm stuck on boot screen with message "Starting kernel...". Would this be logged somewhere? Any way to recover from this or should I start from scratch? boot error
  2. Powerful upgrade from 32 bit (OrangePi PC Plus) would be very welcome. And what I would use it for is pretty much the same as many non programmers users would do: media server, private cloud, Docker, messing around with Linux in general and maybe running Storj node or Syncthing relay server.
  3. Nothing original here: media server, Nextcloud, VPN server, Docker, learning bit more about Linux in general and perhaps run node for Storj or relay for Syncthing. Currently in use OrangePi PC Plus would be used for CCTV monitoring.
  4. It must be then. I almost binned the hard drive thinking it's faulty.
  5. Another update. I suspect faulty board or issues with power supply. HDD just works fine on Windows machine. I'm trying 2TB hard drive without anything other disk plugged in.
  6. Formatting hard drive as NTFS or even ext4 was failing while disk was connected to OPi. I decided to give a try and formatted hard drive in Windows 11 (not quick format). It took hours to complete it but disk seems to be ok. dmesg shows only this harmless error [30191.526088] usb 4-1: new high-speed USB device number 2 using ehci-platform [30191.684736] usb 4-1: New USB device found, idVendor=1058, idProduct=25a1, bcdDevice=10.05 [30191.684776] usb 4-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=2, Product=3, SerialNumber=1 [30191.684799] usb 4-1: Product: Elements 25A1 [30191.684817] usb 4-1: Manufacturer: Western Digital [30191.684835] usb 4-1: SerialNumber: 575833314137364C31434156 [30191.686384] usb-storage 4-1:1.0: USB Mass Storage device detected [30191.706338] usb-storage 4-1:1.0: Quirks match for vid 1058 pid 25a1: 800000 [30191.706696] scsi host1: usb-storage 4-1:1.0 [30192.711428] scsi 1:0:0:0: Direct-Access WD Elements 25A1 1005 PQ: 0 ANSI: 6 [30192.711940] sd 1:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg1 type 0 [30192.716883] sd 1:0:0:0: [sdb] Spinning up disk... 8. Hello again, I was forced to reinstall OS and right now I have no sound at all. https://paste.armbian.com/omovipuyub I did try this but still no sound. cat /proc/asound/cards 0 [Codec ]: H3_Audio_Codec - H3 Audio Codec H3 Audio Codec 1 [sun9ihdmi ]: sun9i-hdmi - sun9i-hdmi sun9i-hdmi
  9. Worked like charm. Now I can try to install system to USB stick. Cheers!
  10. I get following error ### Board installation issue: File /usr/lib/nand-sata-install/a20/bootloader does not exist or is not accessible! I poked around and found folder /usr/lib/armbian-install which contains file with same content you mentioned above along with 3 subfolders titled a10, a20, a13. Would copying all content from armbian-install to nand-sata-install help?
  11. Apologies. It's not new install. I update OS regularly. https://paste.armbian.com/cozawuhebi
  12. I'm trying to install the system to external usb drive on my OrangePi PC + using armbian-config tool but I get this error ### Board installation issue: File /usr/lib/nand-sata-install/exclude.txt does not exist or is not accessible! OS installed Armbian 23.8.1 with 6.1.53-current-sunxi kernel
  13. As those temperatures were bothering me I decided to order some heatsinks and fan from Aliexpress. I got 3 heatsinks, fan and as a bonus clear plastic case (so fragile I managed to snap off two clips when putting together the casing). And the results are impressive. Temperatures fell from 49 - 51 degrees when idling to 35 - 38 degrees depending how warm is the room where OrangePi is placed. Under mild load (usually some music streaming and copying files to external hard drive) temperatures go up to slightly over 40 degrees. Fan is very quiet and it can be noticed but not to the point of being annoying.
  14. Sometimes I get around 56 degrees. Usually, the temperature is a few degrees lower. I was thinking about passive coolers but the question is do they work actually.
  15. Would passive cooling be any good for OrangePi PC Plus? Or active cooling is better suited?
