With the prior image and kernel 5.10.110 I was able to run compile.sh and produce the linux-source-legacy-rockchip-rk3588_23.02.0-trunk_all.deb which provided the kernel source in /usr/src/linux-source-5.10.110-rockchip-rk3588.tar.xz. I downloaded the latest img which provides kernel 5.10.160 which booted fine. However, running the same compile.sh process I used previously with success produced the older deb package that contains the 5.10.110 kernel source. There were a couple of errors displayed. My compile.sh command is: ./compile.sh BOARD=orangepi5 BRANCH=legacy BUILD_ONLY=kernel RELEASE=jammy KERNEL_CONFIGURE=no The first error encountered was a prompt for username/password to access https://github.com/morrownr/8821cu-20210118/. I tried creating a github account but those credentials did not work. Pressing Enter bypassed the authentication failure and continued but the kernel failed to build with "[ error ] Kernel was not built". Assuming this error was in part due to not having access to https://github.com/morrownr/8821cu-20210118/. My primary goal is to acquire the kernel 5.10.160 kernel source so that I can build external kernel modules. I did see the leaflet-8 notice. Is the issue I describe above covered by the leaflet-8 notice? or do I need to use different compile.sh options? Perhaps a different BRANCH= value? I tried using the compile.sh menu system but got the same result.

Hi Basically the subj sums it up. I got the AP6275P wireless module with Armbian, and BT is not functional. `hcitool dev` doesn't show the device in its output. Neither does `rfkill`. It works with the Ubuntu image published by Orange Pi though, so it doesn't look like a hardware issue. I'm using Armbian 23.5 Jammy Gnome with the 5.10.160 kernel. Happy to provide any additional data.

Hello, I would like the ability to run Firefox or Chromuim rather than Gnome or any desktop environment when I start up my Orange Pi 5. This is for a device I'm setting up that (when rebooted) ideally won't even prompt the user to log in, it'll just directly bring up the browser and directly to a specific URL. Any thoughts on how I might do this? David

I was able to flash armbian bookworm cli to the ssd using balena etcher but when I boot the OPI5 from the sdcard and run lsbk it can only see the sdcard any ideas ...

booted opi5 via nvme one day and the boot screen mentions about btrfs partition missing even tho it was using ext4 partition. booted via sdcard and the root partition is entirely missing on the nvme. the boot partition is still there and working. not sure if relevant but the previous time i shut the opi5 down, i forgot to unplug it and it was plugged in for about an hour after shutdown with the red led and fan on. the nvme is kingspec which while cheap doesnt seem to have that many bad reports online that i can find (the boot partition was fine so i suspect kingspec isnt at fault). the power adapter is a 25w phone charger w/ pd/qs; it hasnt exhibited any weird behavior (like random shutdowns) thus far. i just chalked it up to my set of parts that led to this data corruption until on the opi discord someone mentioned the 160 kernel halved the speed of the nvme. i recall my device was recently updated to the 160 kernel. lost about 100gb of data so im definitely going back to 110 kernel builds.

Hi, No matter if I run the "sudo reboot" command or use the restart option from Gnome desktop, the Orange Pi 5 is not rebooting. It runs a splash screen with some kind of information after I execute that action, but after that the splash freezes and nothing happens. So I need to manually power off and then power on the Orange Pi 5 board. I'm using the following setup: Armbian 23.05.1 Thanks!

Hi, i've an Hdd of 1TB and i would like to use it as a storage for my orange pi 5. I would like to install armbian and boot directly from the Hdd the operating system. I need only to buy the adaptor for sata interface. Before to buy it i've read some posts and also watched this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5-sZt_O51w&pp=ygUZb3JhbmdlIHBpIDUgYm9vdCBmcm9tIHVzYg%3D%3D and this guy was not able to boot the orange pi directly from the Hdd because the adaptor was creating some problem. 1) I would like to ask you if someone knows if in this months this problem was been resolved or not 2) If it is not yet solved, i would like to install the OS and boot it from the MicroSD card and use the Hdd with the adaptor as a storage (like a big usb stick), does in this way the Hdd will be visible and would i be able to use it?

I searched & tried all materials I can find, trying to set up FFmpeg to work with hardware acceleration on Orange Pi 5. But it did NOT work. Anyone else succeeds in using GPU hardware acceleration to encode/transcode video on Orange Pi 5 using FFmpeg? (or using gstreamer?) Could you please share with me the way to do it? Thank you very much indeed!

I did a fresh install of armbian jammy 23.5 cli on my orangepi 5 (I previously used 22.11 and 23.02), and I cannot reboot. "sudo reboot" just hangs the system. Not really a big deal, just somewhat annoying, because previous versions runs fine. Anybody else experiencing the same problem? "armbianmonitor -U" output is attached. armbianu.txt

Hello, I cloned the master branch of WiringOP one month ago, it reported same version 2.46 and it was working except for the option to activate internal pull up/down. Trying it in C code using: pullUpDnControl(n, PUD_DOWN); or by terminal with: gpio mode 1 down same behavior, nothing happen.. by default, unfortunately in my case, it seem active a pull up resistor for all inputs. I searched on the web and found there was a bug, fixed. I checked again the main branch and in effect it is different now, the new code is: *(gpio + GPPUD) = pud & 3 ; delayMicroseconds (5) ; *(gpio + gpioToPUDCLK [pin]) = 1 << (pin & 31) ; delayMicroseconds (5) ; *(gpio + GPPUD) = 0 ; delayMicroseconds (5) ; *(gpio + gpioToPUDCLK [pin]) = 0 ; delayMicroseconds (5) ; but executing it I get "segmentation fault", debugging deeply the reason is that "gpio" address is zero. I tried to clone the "next" branch but it is even worst, it won't compile, many errors, log from terminal attached. What I can do in order to fix.. of simply to setup all inputs with pulldown resistor active? Thanks in advance Andrea log.txt

Hello, I have roughly 30 Orange Pi 5 here in the office setting up for deploying in the field. NVMe boot is working great after using 'nand-sata-install' to flash the MTD. But sometimes (rarely, but happens), when issuing a reboot of Armbian, after full kernel shutdown, the player does not boot back up. Power light is on, no activity blinking LED. Network link and activity blinking. Just won't boot. Requires physically disconnecting power for a few seconds then re-plug to get to boot. I have watchdog set in Armbian and tested that works. So this seems to be before Linux kernel has taken control. Is there any way to enable any logging or debug mode on the bootloader to try to get some logs or anything to help see what's happening? Thanks.

Hey folks, im trying to compile a realtime kernel for mt orange pi 5. I plan to use it for djing. A fully preemptive kernel delivers better performance for this, as less xruns appear. I am following the official dev instructions and am using the docker method, Compiling only the kernel, not the entire armbian OS. I copied a realtime patch (actually I tried several sub versions of 5.10) from the kernel.org realtime project site into the userpatches directory (I looked up the correct orange pi 5 subfolder name but forgot it rn) but compiling throws me some errors. Has anyone succeeded in creating a kernel like this for the orange pi 5 and/or could give me any advice for doing so? I actually dont care much about the kernel version, I just need it to be fully preemptive .. Help is much apprecieated! Kenny

Hello Armbian forum, I need to have a GPIO interrupt on Orange PI5. I have successfully installed WiringOP and I am using it with C code. The problem is that the interrupt is not working, and I am receiving the following error. How can I proceed? Does anyone know how to enable the WiringOP interrupt on the GPIO PIN? Code C : #define AUX 13 wiringPiISR(AUX, INT_EDGE_FALLING, &MyFunction); Error: wiringPiISR: unable to open /sys/class/gpio/gpio92/value: No such file or directory PS. I have just successfully installed this version: Armbian 23.02 Jammy Gnome

Hello. Is it possible to enable OV13855 camera on OPi5 with the latest armbian image? If yes, how do it? Thanks!

I reinstalled my OrangePi5 with a newly built debian12 based image and in the middle of setting up the third one I lost SSH connection. Now I have 2 OPi5 with the Armbian MOTD and whatever unseen setup that occurs behind the scenes and a third one where I manually configured locales and tzdata. Is there a way to re-run that first login script manually? Thanks

``` May 21 21:53:26 rpc.idmapd[21345]: main: fcntl(/run/rpc_pipefs/nfs): Invalid argument May 21 21:53:26 systemd[1]: nfs-idmapd.service: Control process exited, code=exited, status=1/FAILURE ``` The rpc.idmapd version in Debian is still ancient (as with many things in debian) and still requires dnotify but the armbian kernel for the orange pi 5 build ``` $ grep -i dnotify /boot/config-5.10.110-rockchip-rk3588 # CONFIG_DNOTIFY is not set ``` It looks like bookworm will likely fix this when it's out, so maybe the right thing to do is simply move to bookworm asap but this does prevent the ability to fully support nfsv4 with armbian's debian builds.
with clean install of armbian plus those 4 lines to install hardware acceleration glmark2-es2 gives score of about 800-900, about less then 25% of performance opi5 is capable. is it possible to raise that a bit, not all the way but just a bit more without instaling gnome or wayland, just to keep armbian as clean as its possible. as it is, its stable but barely(they do run) able to run 4k youtube oe 4k mkv, as soon as there is gnome and wayland it starts to crash, joshua rieks version, monka, armbian with all the drivers, any i tried it would crash eventualy.
A new variation of Orange Pi 5 is now available. I think it's available on AliExpress, but I've seen the item on Amazon.com as well...reasonable price: https://www.amazon.com/Orange-Pi-Rockchip-Frequency-Development/dp/B0C5BZLPZN It comes now with the RK3588 instead of the RK3588s of the 5 and 5B. It's similar in capabilities of the Rock 5B but I believe has a few more bells and whistles. It has two 2.5GB ethernet ports. Separate connectors than GPIO for RTC and fan. Full size HDMI input as well as 2 full size HDMI outputs. Can have m.2 for 2230 WiFi/BT on top side as well as m.2 2280 on bottom of board. I think it can only go up to 16GB memory. Not sure if Armbian will make all of these work...yet. But this makes perfect sense...I just bouth my Orange Pi 5 about a month ago PS: A new tag is required for this new variation...I guess. PPS: Other thing to note is that Amazon link is for a 16GB version and includes a power supply. However, this particular listing ships from China. For Orange Pi 5 and 5B there were listings that were fulfilled by Amazon. I would think that Orange Pi will/may have those in the near future, that ship from the US...hopefully, but likely a little more expensive. PPPS: If you go to that Amazon link, there is also a version with 4GB and no power supply for $99.99 at the time this was posted.
Hello, I am running Armbian 23.05 "minimal" (with the provided kernel 5.10.110) on my OrangePI 5 4GB. Upgraded all packets to latest. When trying to run GeekBench 5.5.1 ARM Preview, it reboots when approaching the end of multicore tests, with "performance" governor and default speed range (0.4 - 2.4 GHz for A76). Same goes if I drop the max clock speed to 2.2 for A76. After dropping to 2.0 GHz max, it runs fine; but this hurts performances quite a bit. I tried various power sources, including a bench PSU which can reliably supply up to 30A (but I only see a few spikes over 2A). The board has a large heatsink installed with thin 3M thermal pad; temperatures stay under 54 C under full load. I suspected a bad silicon, but it does not look bad, should ad least reach 2.2 GHz: root@orangepi5:~# dmesg | grep pvtm [ 6.624098] rockchip-pvtm fda40000.pvtm: pvtm@0 probed [ 6.624154] rockchip-pvtm fda50000.pvtm: pvtm@1 probed [ 6.624207] rockchip-pvtm fda60000.pvtm: pvtm@2 probed [ 6.624270] rockchip-pvtm fdaf0000.pvtm: pvtm@3 probed [ 6.624321] rockchip-pvtm fdb30000.pvtm: pvtm@4 probed [ 7.352652] cpu cpu0: pvtm=1487 [ 7.352872] cpu cpu0: pvtm-volt-sel=4 [ 7.362528] cpu cpu4: pvtm=1723 [ 7.366667] cpu cpu4: pvtm-volt-sel=5 [ 7.376888] cpu cpu6: pvtm=1731 [ 7.381119] cpu cpu6: pvtm-volt-sel=5 [ 7.561843] mali fb000000.gpu: pvtm=881 [ 7.563822] mali fb000000.gpu: pvtm-volt-sel=3 [ 7.612340] RKNPU fdab0000.npu: pvtm=896 [ 7.617305] RKNPU fdab0000.npu: pvtm-volt-sel=4 Any suggestion?
