  2. Hello, Is possible to connect my printer to the USB OTG with an adapter ? The printer (HP PSC1215) is pretty old and doesn't have an ethernet port, so I would like to share it over network with my OPI One. The native usb port is used already. I was thinking to buy an adapter USB OTG to USB and to connect the printer here. I'm asking here because I'm not very sure how does OTG works. I'm running ARMBIAN Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 3.4.113-sun8i. Thanks !
  3. Hello, I have just been following the instructions set up here to make an access point out of my orange pi one which has the 4.9.4-sun8i dev kernels (they are not the problem). https://learn.adafruit.com/setting-up-a-raspberry-pi-as-a-wifi-access-point/install-software When I begin the first test I get an error that is spit out by the interface I guess? (I'm relatively new to linux and am trying to get a hang of it) Configuration file: /etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf nl80211: Could not configure driver mode nl80211: deinit ifname=wlx40a5ef0eea56 disabled_11b_rates=0 nl80211 driver initialization failed. wlx40a5ef0eea56: interface state UNINITIALIZED->DISABLED wlx40a5ef0eea56: AP-DISABLED hostapd_free_hapd_data: Interface wlx40a5ef0eea56 wasn't started My hostapd.conf file is also as follows, although it looks OK to me. ssid=PI_AP interface=wlx40a5ef0eea56 hw_mode=g channel=5 driver=nl80211 logger_syslog=0 logger_syslog_level=0 wmm_enabled=1 ieee80211n=1 wpa=3 preamble=1 #wpa_psk=66eb31d2b48d19ba216f2e50c6831ee11be98e2fa3a8075e30b866f4a5ccda27 wpa_passphrase=12345678 wpa_key_mgmt=WPA-PSK wpa_pairwise=TKIP rsn_pairwise=CCMP auth_algs=1 macaddr_acl=0 noscan=1 #ht_capab=[HT40-][SHORT-GI-40][SHORT-GI-40][DSSS_CCK-40] country_code=US #ieee80211d=1 root@orangepion
  4. Hello, Recently I bought my first orange pi one and I downloaded the xenial desktop specifically so that I could have an xserver preinstalled to what I wanted to transform into an access point. I had realized that all realtek wifi dongles would cause a kernel crash once you try to connect to an access point with them. I had followed instructions to rebuild the orange pi with the dev packages that are found on its download page, and it worked the first time, allowing me to continue with my work. Long story short I ended up re-imaging the sd card and now I can't get the dev version to work again. It won't boot once I install the packages. I am wondering if something has changed or that is just a problem for me. Also I attempted to get the mainline packages however there is no mainline u-boot package for the OrangePi One like it says here https://www.armbian.com/kernel/. It would be appreciated if I could know how to install the mainline packages if there are any / a way to get the dev packages to work again. OR if neither of those is an option It would be helpful if I could get some more help with using the legacy build with the realtek dongles I have.
  5. Hello, I am using Armbian nightly legacy Jessie 3.4.113 build and it seems Mali drivers are included. Please, How should I set values in boot.cmd and boot.scr to mali HW acceleration work properly? I checked this site http://linux-sunxi.org/KernelArgumentsand tried to place something like "sunxi_ve_mem_reserve=64 cma=96 sunxi_g2d_mem_reserve=64 sunxi_fb_mem_reserve=32" to this file on setenv line but armbian fails to boot. I would like to use HW acceleration in VLC. Thank you.
  6. Hello, I have red, that WiFi card built-in Orange Pi Lite (RTL8189FTV) could make troubles (drivers), so I wonder - maybe will be better to buy Orange Pi One and WiFi dongle (a well tested one, with non-problem chipset) Which WiFi dongle would you recommend for Orange Pi One?
  7. Hi, I've tried to use the Ubuntu Xenial Mainline 4.9.4 server on my orange pi one. The u-boot log messages appear on the HDMI monitor but after the "Starting Kernel" message, the monitor shows "No Signal". I can still acess it through SSH. Executing dmesg, there is a log "simple-framebuffer: probe of 59f42000.framebuffer failed with error -12". I'm new to Linux, Is there a way I can fix it ? Thx.
  8. I connected the dongle wifi but it does not seem to work. I get the error: rtlwifi firmware rtlwifi/rtl8192cufw.bin not available I have try to build, make scipts, git rtl8192cu-fixes, etc, but return error scipts/Makefile.build:432 recipe for target '/home/vbextreme/rtl8192cu-fixes/8192cu.o' failed my version armbian 5.24 kernel 3.4.113 you can pass me the prebuild module?
  9. Well a little info, I've been using my orangepi one with an SDR dongle to track airplanes with flightradar24 for the last few months. My intentions were to use a POE adapter and run the board outside near the antenna at one point. I have now received the final parts and went to move it today. It has been running flawlessly for a month with my POE adapter off of a switch near my PC in my shop. I now plan on connecting it to the main switch on my LAN. So previously my setup was: Router -> switch -> long ethernet to shop -> swtich -> orangepione now I want to run it: Router -> switch -> long ethernet to outside -> orangepione But for some reason this doesn't work, it doesn't connect to the LAN unless it is behind both switches. After booting it says: phy: gmac0-0:00 - link is up full/100 phy: gmac0-0:00 - link is down And repeats this every couple seconds. But if I unplug the ethernet cable and add the second switch between then it connects just fine. My laptop connects fine behind either setups so it cant be the cables. Any ideas? are there settings in armbian that could be giving me these issues?
  10. Hi, I'm trying to send IR command from a IR led from an Orange Pi, i have it working fine on an Arduino, but it seems that on linux it's a bit more complicated as there are no lib that can control a GPIO with an IR transmitter, it seems that everybody is using LIRC. I see for raspberry pi this needs to be done : EDIT /etc/modules WITH : lirc_dev lirc_rpi gpio_in_pin=23 gpio_out_pin=22 the Orange PI devier module is different, so i do not know how to control it to let it know where the transmitter is. Anybody managed to get this to work ? Thx
  11. Hallo, I use Armbian for some time now, usually I can solve all problems myself. Recently, one of my boards has gone bad (or mad?). I started using this particular board on 10/11/2016. Installed Armbian (5.20) from images available on that day. Everything went nice, no problems, pretty much no load for whole days. On 20/12/2016 something began to use 1 core of CPU. No idea what. On 23/12/2016 board stopped responding completely. I haven't accessed/used system from 20/12/2016 so I was not aware of problem. I turned it off later. I removed SD card from board and used with other OrangePi One just fine. But this board behaves strange. I re-installed Armbian and it seems to work. Sort-of. cfinteractive plus watchdog consume 100 percent of CPU (I mean 1 core). dmesg - after boot first 4 messages are "wait hard syn message time out" followed by plenty of "hw message queue fifo full timeout" Only thing I manage to google is source code related to these messages. [ 109.080018] [ARISC ERROR] :wait hard syn message time out [ 109.080036] [ARISC ERROR] :message addr : f004b840 [ 109.080046] [ARISC ERROR] :message state : 2 [ 109.080054] [ARISC ERROR] :message attr : 2 [ 109.080062] [ARISC ERROR] :message type : 30 [ 109.080070] [ARISC ERROR] :message result : 0 [ 113.080021] [ARISC ERROR] :hw message queue fifo full timeout [ 113.080041] [ARISC ERROR] :message addr : f004b840 [ 113.080050] [ARISC ERROR] :message state : 2 [ 113.080058] [ARISC ERROR] :message attr : 2 [ 113.080066] [ARISC ERROR] :message type : 30 [ 113.080074] [ARISC ERROR] :message result : 0 I'll gladly provide additional information. Only strange ting hardware-wise I noticed: black plastic on pin headers seems to pull pins together and thus bend board slightly, but noticeably. So I removed plastic with pliers just to relieve board from unnecessary stress. I did that with all of my Oranges (Ones, PCs). Boards are definitely straighter. Is this OPI One FUBAR? How could that happen?
  12. Fails to boot after creating a swap file, it gives an error "BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 23s!". Help solve the problem.
  13. Hi everybody, I have an Orange Pi One run Armbian Server image. I want to write an GUI application by QT on the my computer and compile/run on Orange Pi One. I read and follow some tutorials, but not success. Are you suggestions for me? Many Thanks!
  14. Hi there, As the topic title says,... Is there any available option to install/setup Domoticz server onto Orange Pi Box using Armbian Desktop or Server version? Thank you! Kind regards
  15. Hello! Can anyone help me to set up my Orange Pi one ,that I could use gpio's with node-red? I am using armbian 5.22. Recently I am trying to manage my OPi One to work with Node-Red. Today I finally set it up and was able to start Node-red. After that I tried several hours to manage GPIOs ,but nothing worked. Is there a short version how to manage gpios to get them working. So today I installed nodejs 4.xx, npm@2.x. After that I installed wiringPi from github, then I added to node-red -> npm wiring-Pi and modified settings.js , after that I tried npm -> wiring-op and still nothing. I my experimentations today I started 3 times with cleans jessie install, every time trying different git sources and different tutorials. At one point I get same error as in this article ''Error: setup: arguments['mode'] => ("undefined" in ("wpi", "gpio", "sys", "phys")) === false'' , removing and rebooting did not solve it for me. BTW I managed gpio readall to show gpios, and even example blink file in C with wiringPi worked. Can anyone help me with correct sequence and what exact git sources I should use? p.s. at the moment I find a lot of badly documented sources in github, but whitch one will work?
  16. I have a Lenovo Mini USB keyboard N5901. It doesn't seem to work with the following image: Armbian_5.20_Orangepione_Debian_jessie_3.4.112 Can anyone assist on what I should do to enable the keyboard?
  17. I was sort of disappointed with my RPi 2 VPN performance, which is about 2.5MiB/s while normal traffic can easily exceeds 5.5MiB/s. So I setup same VPN config on OPi One and run the test. The speed is impressive which is well above 5 MiB/s but it could only last about 10s before the box reboots itself. I can see one cpu core is occupied 100% by softirqd ( about 80% on RPi 2). My kernel version is 3.4.112 and StrongSwan version is 5.3.3. Don't have further information yet. When I get a chance to hook up serial console, I may collect more info.
  18. Hello, I'm using Armbian 5.20 on my Orange Pi. Everything is working as it should except for the subtitles in MPV. I already upgraded to a newer version of MPV VDPAU which makes no difference so i went back to the orignal MPV and VDPAU. The problem is that at intermittent times the subtiles display over each other. It seems that the first subtitle which should have been gone according to the srt is still being displayed under the newly displayed subtitle. Have anyone encountered this problen and is there a solution to this problem?
  19. Hi guys, I'm trying to solve a very specific problem in our company and after reading several tutorials I'm still not sure, how to achieve my goal. It would nice, if anyone can share his code or help me, however I will also to try to finish it and post the solution here. Idea/Issue: We've upgraded a very old cutting machine with plasma cutter, however there is only a USB port on the device, therefore our colleagues have to go several times per day from office to workshop and swap flashdrives. Thanks to size of our plant this isn't very good solution. Idea is to take Orange Pi One and connect it to the machine through OTG port, therefore it will act as Flashdrive. Then using Ethernet (FTP) we will send files over network. What to buy/download: Orange Pi One SD Card Wall charger USB phone sync cable Latest Armbian Steps: Install Armbian, etc (done) Activate mass storage on OrangePi (done) Create partition, format as FAT32 and mount it (not working yet) Test behavior - mainly writing data over network while connected to plasma cutter (on hold)
  20. I'm trying to use 1080p60 with a DVI-HDMI cable on an Orange Pi One so I run h3disp -m 1080p60 -d and restart. Monitor shows randomly moving white lines on both sides of the display (probably the console text all garbled) for a few seconds then goes to sleep. Tried with a TV (using an HDMI-HDMI cable) and it cycles between Unsupported Mode and No Signal. 1080p without the DVI flag works on the TV but the monitor doesn't even come out of sleep with it. Other resolutions seem to work fine with the DVI flag on the monitor, including 720p and 1080i. The monitor also works fine with a 1080p output from a PC. Image: Armbian_5.20_Orangepione_Debian_jessie_3.4.112_desktop.7z Any ideas? Thanks
  21. hi guys i have an orange pi one and download "Armbian_5.20_Orangepione_Debian_jessie_3.4.112" and "Armbian_5.20_Orangepione_Debian_jessie_3.4.112_desktop" for this , after write image with "Win32DiskImager" or "Etcher" , use this for orangepi and this is good. but after i want connect this to computer and get a backup , windows dont detect this drive and come error "you need to format the disk in drive. . . " i test this with all of usb port in computer and use some sd ram for this but dont work...
  22. Hi, I am looking for a solution or tutorial to help me enable splash screen for Orange Pi One. Thanks.
  23. I've posted this on the Orange Pi subreddit here: https://redd.it/5bqnghbut figured a more active community might be better. I am using my Orange Pi Ones for SETI@Home, I also use Raspberry Pis for the same purpose. I've noticed since, around, Armbian 5.20 that SETI@Home(BOINC) won't stay running for any more than 6-12 hours. It's being sniped by Out of Memory. I've tried a few things, posted on the subreddit, but here is the short list: Logged Memory ---> Can dip below 100MB during usage but not often Enabled Swap/Increase Swappiness---> 0 to 10 (I don't care about SD Card life) Adjusted BOINC/SETI to use 75% memory None of the above seems to have helped. The RPis seem to have no issue with this, with even less swap space and 0 swappiness. What can I do here, if anything?
  24. Talking about this -> https://github.com/igorpecovnik/lib/commit/cdc02f678620d6dba6c9e4ebc60884fc54c6dfc6 Dont know if anyone else noticed it, but after applying this I got about 10% lower CPU temp. (from 75 ro 67) in OPi/H3 under the same heavy workload with same performance! If there has not been any other temperature modificatioin done then this thumb2 change is definitively towards the right direction. Kudos guys!
  25. I have been trying to get USB OTG to work for the past few days, but have not succeeded. I have enabled all of the appropriate kernel settings according to this. I modprobed sunxi and g_ether, but my laptop did not detect the Orange Pi (no change in lsusb). My laptop runs Arch Linux, if that matters (the image was built on a Xenial VM though). There is no dmesg output about this, so I do not know what I did wrong. The reason I need the dev kernel is because I am using docker.
