  1. Hello everybody, I'm pretty new to Armbian and H3 boards. I own an Orange PI + 2 board brought more than 1 year ago, yesterday I started to play around with it and I've discovered that for some reason its Mali GPU doesn't support OpenGL ES and it's somehow related to it having 2 GB of RAM on board. I'm really not sure how it can be related, but that's what Armbian's changelog for v5.20 says: Later in v5.25 it says: So I just want to know if 2GB boards feature OpenGL ES support (as well as HW video decoding etc)? I tried to run glxheads, glxgears etc from mesa-utils package, but got some really poor FPS there + some games I used for benchmarking such as billard-gl warned me about missing mali drivers: This guy is doing some good job for a H3 board. I think Armbian community can benefit from his experiments at least in terms of getting Mali GPU fully working or backporting Kodi to our distro https://ua3nbw.ru/all/kodi-18-armbian-orangepi/ https://ua3nbw.ru/all/kodi-17-1-krypton-na-orange-pi-s-opengl-es-2-0/
  2. Very grateful to armbian to provide such a good image! Armbian has released many images that have been packaged with OMV。 I am follow this link for a long time:http://kaiser-edv.de/tmp/NumpU8/ I'm happy to see more and more mirrors available。 I used one of the images named OMV_3_0_72_Orangepiplus2e_3.4.113.7z and it works good,Special thanks to tkaiser! There is another model(Orangepiplus2) that is better suited for NAS Because it has a sata interface https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-plus-2/ Can Armbian provide OMV images of the above motherboards? At last, sorry for my poor English.
  3. Hi guys, I have been following this two sources below while trying to build my own pps ntp server with orangepi plus. I have got gpsd and pps work. However, I have ran into the problem that the chrony I got from apt-get doesn't have pps support. It will outputs "Fatal erre : refclock driver PPS is not compiled in". I have tried building chrony from source with timepps.h but that couldn't even run properly without pps source. I am stuck with the problem. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks! 1. 2. https://www.blackmagicboxes.com/?p=581
  4. So, hello. Sorry for bad/broken English, I'm still teaching it. As in title, I can't boot my orange pi 2 plus from sd card. I have tried with one tv(hdmi-hdmi 1920x1080), and one normal pc monitor (hdmi-dvi 1440x900) sd card is 8gb class 10 producent "team". I burned my image with Etcher 1.1.1 Funny is that, lubuntu image from eMMC is working fine, I've tried to boot lubuntu, ubuntu, image, with no effect, the only image that works is from eMMC(i have installed it months ago) At start, the green LED lights up and after 5, maybe 10 seconds red LED is blinking, something like blink-blink-2/3 seconds break-blink-blink I feel like I should create this topic in orangepi forum, but I can't create any new threads, cuz I have to be "verified" Hope someone will be able to help me.
  5. Does Armbian run on the Orange Pi Plus 2, and support its SATA interface? I was unable to find this exact board model in the compile.sh menu list.
  6. Got Orange Pi Plus 2 and LCD 5"monitor Waveshare. Use armbian OS 5.14 on Debian Jessie 3.4.112. All good with 800x480 resolution, but still cant use touchscreen. 7. Running on Virtualbox-compiled Armbian_5.32_Orangepiplus_Ubuntu_xenial_dev_4.11.5.img. I installed docker and am trying to run a pihole container. Because it's a new image, it tries to download it. But it never gets to the end, because it always freezes. OrangePi+ stops answering pings and I have to hard reboot. Here's almost what it looks like before locking up. I've also had it lock up during file transfers, differs from one time to the other. I have a Samsung Evo+ Class 10 32GB. I have tried different 5V/2.4A power supplies. I quickly checked logs in /var/log, but crash, stack trace or anything. Do I have to manually apply the 0001-sunxi-h3-Fix-PLL1-setup-to-never-use-dividers.patch patch from megous/linux when building my image? Any pointers on how to debug and get rid of these lockups would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  8. hello guys ! I have a big problem which I'm not able to solve . It makes me crazy .... I have an orange pi plus 2 and I have changed the antenna , more powerfull. I'm new with linux and armbian . At the moment I can connect my orange to my router via lan cable and connect it over internet to update and upgrade Armbian and else. Using graphical wicd I can connect it to my home wifi network after put the psw .In this case orange pi is a client. Pratically the wifi on board is working , I mean , because it scans and it lists all of the wifi network reacheables around . But my target is to create an access point with my orange pi . After some weeks I'm watching several tutorials, books , youtube and more , I'm not able to do this job . My questions are : - Is the on board wifi realtek of orange pi plus 2 able to be an AP ? - If not , which kind of dongle do you suggest me ? - Is there some tutorial to help me to set several files such as interfaces , dhcp , hostapd ? Could someone please help me , I 'm very destroyed .... If I reach this target I will continue my tutorial about WSystem home domotik system which is now running over Bluetooth with Arduino due . I want to port all the WSystem project in orange pi over the wifi ......but without AP I can't do it . If I had the AP I can create a tcp server in c++ or java and connect to it by an android ad-hoc app and then make many things. I want to use orange pi instead of Arduino due because I have Linux which offers a lots of services, programs ,network and more . Thank you !!!! Walter
  9. What do I have: SoC: Orange Pi+ 2 http://www.orangepi.org/orangepiplus2 CPU: H3 Quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARM_Cortex-A7 OS: Armbian Ubuntu Xenial https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-plus-2 Audio subsystem: PulseAudio Problem: Test video HTML5 H.264/MP4: https://www.quirksmode.org/html5/tests/video.html Firefox: video is played fine, but audio – NOT: white noise only. Youtube on Firefox: one part of clips is played fine, second part of clips: video is played fine, but audio – NOT: white noise only. Naturally, second part of Youtube clips have format H.264/MP4. However: Chromium: ALL Youtube clips is played fine. Downloading test video in format H.264/MP4 to local disk. mpv: test video is played fine. kodi: test video is played fine. Therefore, the problem NOT in hardware, NOT in PulseAudio, but EXACTLY in Firefox or its plugins. I’m trying install plugins and addons from OS and Firefox repositories, but the problem still is not solved. Please help me.
  10. Hello, I'm trying to boot an Orange Pi Plus with Armbian 5.20, and it does not work. I've already check that both OPi and my sdcard work fine, because I can flash and boot the images on orangepi.org site. Besides, I checked how u-boot starts with both Armbian and "debian server" orangepi.org image (both attached)
  11. Hi, I'm Rosario and I'm a new Armbian follower. I liked it. After months using my OPI Plus2 with Ubuntu Jessie Loboris image (and installed it also on emmc) I decided to install Armbian. I need to say last time I installed OS on emmc I received an error. Erase was fine but copy of last jessie Image no. After that I Installed Armbian Image with no problem and after some reboot OS run up fine. I downloaded last Armbian Image (3.4.112 kernel version). Now, when I try to use emmc I receive some error. First of all seems it's missing. I see only mmcblko (my SD card). emmc doesn't exists: root@orangepiplus:~# cat /proc/partitions major minor #blocks name 179 0 60530688 mmcblk0 179 1 60529664 mmcblk0p1 Running nand-sata-install.sh I receive error saying No emmc found. I connected UART cable to see if POST log error. Seems emmc is OK but I don't know why kernel doesn't use it. Attached Some UART log. Can someone help to understand if emmc is broken or I'm wrong in some point. Thanks in advance OrangePIPlus2-UART.txt
  12. Hello, I bought Orange Pi Plus 2 and I have a banana router r1 on both devices I installed armbian it works good but I need just server + nginx + lua could you please help me, how to reduce the size of installed OS because 1.6Gb its too much Thank you
  13. Hi, I've installed armbian on my orange pi +2 and trying to build GrandOrgue. It is depending on the wxWidgets library. I've tried searching apt-get without any luck. Any suggestions? Thank you. -Roy
  14. Hi The question is maybe trivial but I'm not sure how are numbered pins on the Orange Pi Plus 2 board. On the board is a triangle/arrow directed to an one pin. Is it no. 1? Thank you in advance. Wojciech
  15. I have a 3TB drive attached via SATA, with independent PSU. Despite my best efforts I cannot get it to be recognized as anything more than 801GB/746GiB. This drive works in another machine fine. I tried a low-level wipe (dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=1M), as well as creating new GPT partition tables. hdparm -I does correctly report info, but `cat /sys/class/block/sda/queue/physical_block_size` reports block size at 512. Any thoughts? 16. cheers, new to this, so far have created xenial core, installed virtualbox, built xenial with 4 cpu, 8gb ram, 120Gb vdk, and successfully installed armbian kernel and OS build tools. Was able to build several OPi kernels, then noticed there was only option for OPi + not OPi+ 2 and it appears to only support 1GB of the 2GB available. Its this a viable option? will it automatically do 2GB on boot or is it specifically limited? Not sure which parameters to change. Also looking for an accurate schematic of the Orange Pi Plue 2 would appreciate it if someone can send me a link. My application is to setup SPI and i2C and from weeks of reading this looks like the correct way to do this. But not sure of this specific boards chips, so loading all the drivers and associated bits. Again if you know specifics please point me to them. Been through a lot of pain with OPi but only way to learn. Plan on building a lot of kernels so I can learn this area more completely. BTW your web site and images are by far the highest quality, I have tried all the other builds on the H3 related webs. Good job folks. Appreciate all the help on this site. Also I have ported raspi-config to OPi-config, working currently to fully test and add some more usable bits. I dont know how to contribute it (yes I am a HW guy learning SW). As I get this all figured out I am doing my usual how to documentation which I will contribute and send for review once I have things working correctly. All the best jbird1
  17. Hi guys, I have set my /etc/default /gpsd as following: It starts without any problem when I run "service gpsd start" but always fails to start at boot. The output of its status is as following after booting up: Does anyone know what I should change in order for gpsd to run properly at boot? Thanks!
  18. I have an Orange Pi Plus 2 that was running Armbian off of its onboard eMMC module, but I think I may have damaged it while working with the GPIO pins as it now will no longer boot from the module. The board will boot and run OK off of an SD card, but I'd like to copy the OS back to the eMMC module if possible. I've tried to rerun the script 'nand-sata-install', but I receive the error 'There are no targets. Please check your drives'. If I list the mmc devices I just get one, which I presume is the SD card: > ls -l /dev/ | grep mmcblk brw-rw---- 1 root disk 179, 0 Mar 20 16:51 mmcblk0 brw-rw---- 1 root disk 179, 1 Mar 20 16:51 mmcblk0p1 Does this mean the eMMC card is permanently damaged? Is there anything I could do to attempt to bring it back?
  19. Is it possible to set Orange Pi Plus after "poweroff" command to boot-up by LAN impulse? I am using armbian ubuntu xenial OS. The LED-s on the Ethernet connector are on so maybe there is some chance.
  20. I have an OrangePi Plus. I downloaded and installed "Armbian_5.25_Orangepiplus_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113.7z" (actually, I installed the image file from inside that archive) onto a micro-SD/TF card (16GB) and managed to get it to talk to my monitor (thanks, armbian, for "h3disp"). I searched the web, and this forum, for instructions on how to install a graphical desktop on top of the particular Ubuntu Xenial flavor and found nothing I could make sense of. I tried the following: sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-fbdev ubuntu-desktop I got the Ubuntu greeter, but when I log in, I get a stock desktop background with no sidebars or menu bar. I can move the cursor with the mouse, right click brings up a context menu that is not helpful, and nothing I have tried has gotten me anywhere beyond that. There is nothing in the .xsession-errors log that shows errors other than "libEGL warning: DRI2: failed to authenticate". Lots of people in these forums seem to have a graphical desktop environment working on their H3 based OrangePi boards. There must be some instructions on how to do this successfully. Will some kind soul please respond with either a link to the instructions on how to install a graphical environment on this board, or failing that, describe how it's done? Thanks.
  21. Hi Just install latest armbian on Orange Pi Plus. I installed to emmc and i have i issues. that is everytime when i switch on the power adapter i have to manually press the power button of orange pi plus in order to on boot. Is they anyway not to press the power button to boot? What i want is when i switch on the power adapter and it start booting. Tks
  22. At the moment it seems that python library to manage the gpio is working well I'm trying with wiringPi with C++ under netbeans but it doesn't work . The compiler is the g++ and other parameters are ok ...I think But how to use this package with C/C++ ? In my project I include the #include <wiringPi.h> And netbeans compiles without any error, that's ok . But when I add this line of code wiringPiSetup () ; I get two errors .Into the header file this function is declared as external . I think there is a conflict because my project is C++ but the library is in C and then mistake when compile . Using the terminal I type make blink and then ./blink and it runs .
  23. Hi everyone!! Any chance to know the estimated schedule for having Gb ethernet working in mainline kernel 4.x for this board? Greetings!!
  24. What is the max current that the Orange Pi Plus (or other boards) can output for USB devices? Assume there is a high quality 3A power supply. For example, on Raspberry Pi it is documented here: https://www.raspberrypi.org/help/faqs/#powerReqs Note that the output amount is configurable on RPi (you must manually enable 1.2A output) - is there anything similar for OPi? Here is what needs to be changed in the boot config on an Rpi to change the power from 6mA to 1.2A: http://elinux.org/RPiconfig#USB_Power Thank you!
  25. I'm trying the new version of armbian for orange pi plus 2 . Is there some news to create an access point ? I saw there are some files and other files not Does someone could link to me some tutorial for the access point? I have several usb dongle wifi and wifi on chip After a lot of web sites I visited I'm not able to create an access point thanks
