espressobin image missing support for USB-serial-adapter?

Hi,

 

I'm using an esprossobin with Debian Stretch with Armbian Linux 4.19.56-mvebu64.

However regardless inwhat USB-TTL / Serial adapter I connect to he espressobin's USB2.0 port I don't get a ttyUSB0 device

 

I tried to use a Prolific and a couple of others I got lend from a friend

Are you trying to connect to the espressoBIN, or from the espressoBIN?  The way I read it, it sounds like from, in which case, does your dmesg give any indication that the serial adapter is connected?  There may be a module missing from the kernel compile.
 

If the hardware works on another Debian system, you might try comparing between the dmesg on that system - it might tell you the name of the module.

Some USB_SERIAL drivers are present in "default" images but not in "next/dev", so I've added some for future builds :

Thx! Yes, I'm trying to connect to the console of a cubietruck. (Access from the cubietruck to the console of the espressobin works).
