nicko Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 Greetings, Apologies for the naive question - I'm no linux expert. I've just set up the latest focal on a r4s. I can login on both the wan and the lan interfaces. On the wan side, I have address:192.168.1.2/24 gateway:192.168.1.1 and dns:1.1.1.1, on the lan side I have 192.168.0.1/24. From a server on the lan side I am able ping both of the r4s interfaces, but I am unable to ping the gateway 192.168.1.1. I am also unable to do an 'apt update' on the lan side server as it is unable to connect to ubuntu etc. I used nmtui to set up the r4s and I couldn't find any additional information on setting up packet flow between interfaces, so I assumed that the default setup would deal with this. So. I would be hugely grateful if someone could just point me in the right direction for dealing with this. Thanks Nicko
Igor Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 Default Armbian setup stops at basic functionality - it provides you possibility to login from network, serial and usb (optional). The rest is in users domain. Providing anything more advanced represent serious expense and since the most important things are only covered with 0.5% ... There are many other small and big ideas waiting to get developers investments (which is most likely not going to happen): https://forum.armbian.com/forum/38-feature-requests/ Also good to check to understand the background: https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_FAQ/ However, we might develop better networking setup, we have knowledge, but it takes a lot of precious private time - at least a year to get general config in beta stage. If that is needed at all?
nicko Posted August 10, 2021 Author Posted August 10, 2021 Thanks for your feedback - I'll look into setting up some form of nat. Thanks again.
