Kidil Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Hello, I would like to ask your help about a orange pi choice. i am a kindergarden teacher and I need a computer for my classroom, in order to show the kids videos, images, access internet for information and if it is possible, play .swf games. We had a very old desktop that is now dead, but the mouse, keyboard, old (not flat) vga monitor work ok. Do you think if I buy an orange pi pc (or an other board) and hdmi to vga adaptor and use armbian , I will be ok? No need to say that lack of money is the major issue......
zador.blood.stained Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 I'm afraid that an ARM based SBC won't be a good choice here if you require Flash (.swf) and playing online video. Also there may be an issue with supported monitor resolution and refresh rate
gnasch Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Maybe you could look at raspberry pi, they have lots of activities around schools. They are also very well documented for less technical users. VGA video is too harsh, try to contact companies in your region, they change computers periodically and maybe they can donate you a more recent DVI or even HDMI Monitor, and maybe a USB mouse and keyboard. A HDMI to DVI cable is quite cheap. I commend your commitment! Best luck, gnasch.
