Tuan Nguyen Posted October 27, 2023 Posted October 27, 2023 I have recently purchased a Linux-based TV box with the following specifications: Realtek chipset with the code RTD1395PU 1 GB of RAM (SEC 149 model) 8 GB Flash memory (SCY brand) Operating system: Linux Support for 1 USB, LAN, HDMI I have tried connecting the UART interface to it and observed the boot process using Putty. What I received was a boot system that I will describe later. The issue I'm facing is that there is very little information on the internet about this CPU model, and the support for it is similarly scarce, as it seems to have been discontinued. I can use ESC/Space to access Uboot in the Realtek> prompt, but the number of supported commands is limited. I can still access USB, and of course, I can't use Ctrl+D to stop this process due to copyright issues. Does anyone have any ideas on how to install Armbian from a USB drive onto its flash memory? 0 Quote

Tài Phan Chí Posted July 8 Posted July 8 So i had figured out how to get the root shell access on this specific type of box(fx6), and unfortunately, nope. You cant run any other os than the official firmware linux(buildroot) because of secure boot and locked bootloader(nope, you can't unlock it with fastboot). But, you can use chroot to run ubuntu or another os. Heres some images for proof. So, you cant run armbian, have to stick with buildroot, you can modify it the way you like with root permission, just dont modify the root parttion, if you do, it wont boot and it will be bricked 0 Quote
Tài Phan Chí Posted July 12 Posted July 12 nevermind, it can infact run armbian, but only by booting using a usb stick(change root drive using bootargs) only. The fx6 still have an un-bypassable secure boot, so booting using usb stick is the only option here, also it works great with the banana pi m4's firmware 0 Quote
Tài Phan Chí Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Currently i need to find someone to be able to make a new driver stack for this box, I had already once ran weston successfully, got emmc boot but i didnt image the system, so it's now gone after i use apt commands(it replaced most of the files). I hope we will be able to fully utilize this box after someone made driver stack or ported drivers that are more compatible, I'll move on and leave this project behind, I will spend some of my free time to work on this, I'll update in the future. Maybe contact me if you want to help working on this. Software rendering works fine(kinda), it got bugs rendering and things on xfce, also fpt(the manufacture) only left some drivers for weston, maybe we can get other drivers for gpu acceleration from somewhere else, i dont really know. That's all i know for now 0 Quote
