derstephan Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 Hi, I read the docs but could not find out what to download to get a headless server. Getting Started says: "mainline: headless server, light desktop operations" In mainline there are 2 downloads for server (Debian, Ubuntu) and one for desktop (Ubuntu). I do not need a desktop, thus I do not want to waste space, RAM and CPU on anything related to it. May I ask, what to download or if there is no headless version what to do to remove the desktop-features alltogether? Thank you very much. Stephan
Igor Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 All server images are minimal, without a desktop. Default download, if you don't choose anything, is headless / server image.
derstephan Posted April 13, 2017 Author Posted April 13, 2017 Hi Igor, thank you very much for the very quick response. I was a bit confused because below the download-button (server section) it says "Optimal for desktop and server usage.". Alright then, I will give it a try. Thanks again. Stephan P.S. May I suggest to add the information about the differences between server and desktop images to your docs and/or directly to the download section?
Igor Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 I see, it is confusing a bit. Those are actually kernel properties, unrelated to the image or operating system altogether. We will try to fix this somehow. Tnx.
