Use this from Sunvell R69. Works perfectly.
HDMI Sound must enable I2C in dtb file

wifi not working, how to solve?

Did you try my image that I linked you? Wifi should work

Hello,
thanks sicxnull for the image. It served me well as I tried it on a tvbox of brand "Tourobox".
However the Wi-Fi problem also happened to me and for what I can tell, it's because of lack of compatible drivers for the network module.
As said by Devmfc,

Especially the wifi modules are a lottery

On my perspective, Bigal Linux would need to identify the network module ( I think it's the one between the PPT and SKhynix that I couldnt identify) and search for the driver corresponding the chipset on /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/kernel/drivers/net/wireless. If found, then it should be loaded as a kernel module with "sudo insmod <driver.ko>". After that, if the "wlan0" interface is visible as an output of the command "ip a", then it worked.
If the driver can't be found on the path given, maybe the only two possible ways of getting WiFi to work are:
1. Being lucky finding an image file with the driver you just need, or
2. finding the driver on the Internet (some github repo) , compiling it yourself and then loading it as a kernel module (nice and friendly) or recompiling the kernel (very nice, but kinda hard).
Nevertheless, I sure wish luck on Bigal Linux journey to thrive upon the problems of his cursed hardware. I will be doing it myself for the Tourobox.

sicxnull: very kind for publishing that compilation. It worked for me on an h313, it started immediately and everything works. I would like to know if you don't have a "minimal" compilation

Hey! @sicxnull I flashed your image on an SD card using balenaEtcher and I'm trying to boot it from a similar board as our friend here. Allwinner H3.

Problem is that it doesn't boot from the SD card, it keeps booting from the current image. I have tried some images of LibreElec (https://libreelec.tv/downloads/allwinner/) and the board actually tries to boot from the SD (though it gets stuck into "Loading Kernel...").

Am I missing something with your image booting process? Thanks!

@radzki While not an allwinner H3 box, I had an Amlogic box that I used libreelec on, and after that booting from Armbian kept failing. You could try a factory reset from the "current image" presumably android and see if that changes your experience. Bit more detail at

Hello, everyone! I have this same exact model, however, when I tried to boot it from the SD card it does nothing, I tried to hold the reset button and it seems to be stuck on boot. I used etcher to image the file shared by sicxnull, do I need to edit anything else? Am I míssing something? Thanks in advance for the help.

my tv box: MXQ pro 4K 5G, Q44_V5.1_20210118, PROCESSOR: ALLWINNER TECH H3 LC267BA 91F2. I recorded the image on a 32gb sd card, but it doesn't boot. Has anyone solved it?

Hello!!

I am looking for help to boot Armbian on a generic TV Box sold as "MXQ Pro 4K 5G". I have tried multiple images (including official and community builds from sicXnull), but I only get a black screen or signal loss immediately after the boot attempt.

Device Specifications:

Model on case: MXQ Pro 4K 5G

Board ID: IK316Q-EMCP_V4.1

SoC: Allwinner H313 (identified as sun50iw9p1 in Android)

RAM: 1GB (Single chip configuration)

Storage: 8GB eMMC

Current Status: I am able to boot into the stock Android. To attempt the Armbian boot, I've tryed the Power up method, the power up pressing the hidden AV switch, using the reboot update command from a terminal emulator within Android.

The issue: Upon executing the reboot command, the Android system shuts down, the display signal cuts off (or stays black), and the device never initializes Armbian (no HDMI output, no LEDs blinking differently).

What I have tried:

Hi, how are you? Well, I don't know English very well, so this text will be translated using Google Translate since I'm Brazilian. Anyway. I found a way to boot the SD card with Linux on the Allwinner H3 chip, using a Chinese MXQ 4K 5G TV box. I booted Android normally and, using the remote control, pressed the power button and then confirmed. After shutting down, I booted with the remote control and Linux started normally. After that, every time I booted with the SD card, it booted perfectly. Another thing I did before, but I believe it doesn't affect this, was to enable USB0 device mode in developer mode. I hope this information helps with your Linux projects!

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to request the official firmware for my Trenspeed H616 device. I accidentally installed an Orange Pi firmware, which caused my device to lose the Google Play Store and essential services.

Device specifications:

Board: T98_616_LP3_210222

Memory: 4GB RAM / 32GB storage

Current version: Android 10

I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide a link to the official firmware or instructions for the correct update, ensuring that it includes Google Play Store and core services.

Thank you very much for your assistance.

Hi all,

For whom who are looking for the image to be installed on this box:

I have the same mxq box with H3 SoC and I flashed the Tritium H3 (libre) armbian image successfully and playing with it for year.

Wifi not working, not sure about Bluetooth because I don't use them at all.

Currently it works as my cups printer server for my brother usb printer.

Typo

hello there:

with the exact same box, i have this problems (solved):

first: the box is called (outside MXQpro 4k), inside is the board in shape of L, like in the pictures.

all the images in this post DONT work to boot direct on linux., so with help of claude, i found the correct img to boot:

Orange Pi Lite + DTB de Orange Pi PC

the process is, burn with balena etcher the image "orange pi lite" from the official repo, (Armbian_community_26.11.0-trunk.83_Orangepilite_trixie_current_6.18.55_minimal.img)

link: https://dl.armbian.com/orangepilite/Trixie_current_minimal

with hdmi and rj45 connected. (no need to press the hide button) just burn the image into an sd, plug in the box, plug the power and that's it.

that gonna boot into linux, but with no lan or network, so you need to edit the dtb to use orange pi pc:

steps:

nano edit /boot/armbianEnv.txt

add this line:

fdtfile=sun8i-h3-orangepi-pc.dtb

press ctrl+X , save : YES, overwrite.

reboot.

now you have it with network.

about wifi, the box have XR819 chip. so supposed to be "easy" to install. but dont have luck yet.

hope this info work for somebody

pd: sorry about my english, is not my first language.

Hi.

Another inage you can try is armbian for tritium (h3) box. You can find it in the armbian official images page.

I have been using it for years.

The box is weak now so I left it as a CUPS server.

Ah one more information: no customization is need, just use the image as is. It seems that the Tritium box and this MXQ 4K (h3) share the same hardware design

thanks, it works also. (with direct lan working, but the hdmi output stop after a while...i finish the instalation on ssh)

just  in case: i use this boxes to run linux but only for klipper,

i find in local marketplace for less than 10 usd... and works flawless for Klipper.... (compared to the price of raspberry...is a good deal)

so the real question is if this kernel really have problem with this chip (like you say "this box is weak...") but in documentation say direct this: use 6.x.x is problematic because dont have support and reported less performance...

(i dont know for sure, but i install armbian in very different boxes and works flawless in all different chips, s905, rockchip, and now in allwinner h3... ) but need more time to speak about the performance of this specifically box.

I have no idea. This the the ssh banner of my box for your reference:

finally a change the dtb because hdmi was buggy (white noise, random images). for the orangepi pc again (and works just fine).

(i modd the cooler inside (removed) an just put a bigger one, touching ram modules also)

still don't fix the driver for wifi,

cpu usage is now installing klipper (it's feel slow... i have to do more test.  this chips has to be very fast for instalation, so i have to check because is running over sd, typicaly i install over internal mmc, stil can't do it that in this box)
