Tarik-Celik Posted July 30, 2025 Posted July 30, 2025 Hello, everyone. Armbian website says OnePlus 8t is supported with "standard support" (here: https://www.armbian.com/oneplus-kebab/). I dont know what that includes as it is not very clear. Will one be able to do calls, send messages etc on that phone with Armbian (e.g. similar to sailfish os or ubuntu touch on their respective supported devices). I am basically asking if cellular, wifi, camera etc works fine. 0 Quote

laibsch Posted July 31, 2025 Posted July 31, 2025 As far as I understand the terminology, "standard support" means we have someone in the core team who has access to the device and regularly runs boot tests on the actual hardware and is willing to attempt to fix issues that are found (best effort, not a guarantee). It does not mean all hardware features of the board are working. Source 1 Quote
Solution amazingfate Posted July 31, 2025 Solution Posted July 31, 2025 onleplus 8t is running mainline kernel so don't expect it can work as an android phone. At the moment cellular and camera is not working. Dsiplay, touchscreen, wifi and bluetooth work. 1 Quote

If you’re thinking about running Armbian on the OnePlus 8T, basic functionality like calls, SMS, and mobile data will really depend on how well the device drivers are supported in the current build. From what most community discussions suggest, Wi-Fi and some hardware features may work, but cellular, camera, and other components can still be hit-or-miss compared to more mature options like Sailfish OS or Ubuntu Touch on officially supported devices. It’s a good idea to check active developer threads and user reports before installing. 0 Quote
