unlue Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 (edited) Hi all, I beginner for OPZero, i followed steps and boot my device with Armbian 5.59 Ubuntu Bionic. It's running first boot no problem, i did login to ubuntu with serial, SSH, and some processes install armbianmonitor and connected port:8888 no problem but i did restart device, its no working. I plug TTL-usb and view serial monitor and this results: https://www.copypaste.io/detail?id=1538899137 U-Boot SPL 2018.05-armbian (Aug 21 2018 - 21:44:47 +0200) DRAM: 512 MiB Trying to boot from MMC1 U-Boot 2018.05-armbian (Aug 21 2018 - 21:44:47 +0200) Allwinner Technology CPU: Allwinner H3 (SUN8I 1680) Model: Xunlong Orange Pi Zero DRAM: 512 MiB MMC: SUNXI SD/MMC: 0 Loading Environment from EXT4… fs_devread read outside partition 4294967288 Failed to mount ext2 filesystem… ** Unable to use mmc 0:auto for loading the env ** Failed (-5) In: serial Out: serial Err: serial Net: phy interface0 eth0: ethernet@1c30000 fs_devread read outside partition 4294967288 Failed to mount ext2 filesystem… ** Unrecognized filesystem type ** fs_devread read outside partition 4294967288 Failed to mount ext2 filesystem… ** Unrecognized filesystem type ** starting USB… USB0: USB EHCI 1.00 USB1: USB OHCI 1.0 scanning bus 0 for devices… 1 USB Device(s) found scanning usb for storage devices… 0 Storage Device(s) found Autoboot in 1 seconds, press to stop switch to partitions #0, OK mmc0 is current device fs_devread read outside partition 4294967288 Failed to mount ext2 filesystem… ** Unrecognized filesystem type ** Device 0: device type unknown … is now current device ** Bad device usb 0 ** ** Bad device usb 0 ** ethernet@1c30000 Waiting for PHY auto negotiation to complete. done BOOTP broadcast 1 DHCP client bound to address 192.168.1.103 (22 ms) *** Warning: no boot file name; using 'C0A80167.img' Using ethernet@1c30000 device TFTP from server 0.0.0.0; our IP address is 192.168.1.103; sending through gateway 192.168.1.1 Filename 'C0A80167.img'. chwe Posted October 7, 2018 Posted October 7, 2018 did you follow the getting started guide? http://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Getting-Started/#how-to-prepare-a-sd-card e.g. test your card before writing armbian to it (f3 H2testw) write it with etcher
unlue Posted October 7, 2018 Author Posted October 7, 2018 i said, "i followed steps..." My SDCard is Class 10, 16GB and i tested with H2testw, result: Warning: Only 16 of 15351 MByte tested. Test finished without errors. Reading speed: 7.94 MByte/s H2testw v1.4 and i did burn with Etcher... Device is working on first boot no problem. I did some process, download and install armbianmonitor, some test with apt-get... no problem. But I restart device (unplug power source ), after no working get error from first message...

Do you mean you installed cpuminer or RPi-Monitor from armbianmonitor? 1 hour ago, unlue said: Warning: Only 16 of 15351 MByte tested. 16 out of 15351? sounds like the card wasn't properly formated prior to test. Please format your card (e.g. with SD Memory Card Formatter on windows) and then repeat H2testw.
unlue Posted October 8, 2018 Author Posted October 8, 2018 Thank you for interest @chwe, i did test SDcard again result: Quote Warning: Only 15350 of 15351 MByte tested. Test finished without errors. You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again. Writing speed: 6.98 MByte/s Reading speed: 15.0 MByte/s H2testw v1.4 i did change OS with Debian, and try again.. but don't change result....
Tido Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 (edited) So you have Orange Pi Zero H2 and only connected ethernet. short cable, different cable? More than one PowerSupply to test? Powering via GPIO pins ? How hot is the SoC after the first boot ? Or is it a Orange Pi Zero +2 H3 ? Edited October 8, 2018 by Tido Which OPi Zero ?
unlue Posted October 8, 2018 Author Posted October 8, 2018 Hi @Tido, Yes i have OPZero h2... 29 minutes ago, Tido said: short cable, different cable? Ethernet cable ~2m, PowerSupply ~75cm 30 minutes ago, Tido said: More than one PowerSupply to test? i try devide powering: 1- USB from PC via microUSB socket. 2- USB from PC via GPIO 3- USB from phone charger 5v2a via microUSB socket. 35 minutes ago, Tido said: How hot is the SoC after the first boot ? Not much 35~45 Degree C.
Tido Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 15 minutes ago, unlue said: 1- USB from PC via microUSB socket. 2- USB from PC via GPIO I power my Ardunio from PC, but never ever would I try to power an SBC with the PC = these two option do not count. So you have only tried with one (1) phone charger as a conclusion. Do you have another phone charger? and try it via GPIO, you may have to re-flash the SDcard as it might be corrupted now. you might want to give the Armbian_5.59_Orangepizero_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113.7z a chance as well if above steps are not sucessful: https://dl.armbian.com/orangepizero/archive/
chwe Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 18 hours ago, unlue said: PowerSupply ~75cm likely to be a powering issue.. Is a AWG number printed on your cable? E.g. looks like this one: if yes and it's higher than 22 go through this one: to get a clue why it's bad idea. If there's no number on it.. chances are high that it is a crappy cable as well.. And I would look for better microUSB cables. With good cables, powering from my notebooks USB work without issues (not that I recommend it) with crappy cable no chance. If you have a multimeter, check voltage on one of the GND and 5V pins.
unlue Posted October 9, 2018 Author Posted October 9, 2018 Today i went to university laboratory and using controllable power supply and avometer, set value 5.0-5.10V and pluged to device via GPIO / microUSB, and measured pins its using between 4.6-5.0V... and max. 0,35A.. but problem is contiune... i dont understand.. where is problem... I think change Sdcard maybe problem is it.
unlue Posted October 10, 2018 Author Posted October 10, 2018 Hi friends, finally i fix it. So im so sorry for occupy you... Problem is powersupply with cable... i did try diferent cables, and finally fixed by thin usb charge cable ~20awg i using power source pc-usb and no problem it's working... Thank you all for ur interesting... 1
