On xenial playing mp4 and mp3 files on mpv media player does not stutter. Also not on vlc. On stretch mp4 and mp3 files stutter on mpv media

player and vlc player.

 

Is that a general error? Thank you.

let me guess... the xenial you use is an default image, means 3.4.113 Kernel (uname -r) and the stretch image is an next with 4.14.y kernel (cause we don't offer stretch with 3.4 kernel - to old to work properly with stretch).

Then it's not an error but yes it is general. Mainline doesn't support hw accelerated decoding (yet).
