alfaktulu Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 Hi everyone. I have a opz with H2+ and expansión board. I had installed Jessie before. And now, I upgraded to stretch. why espeak-ng sounds so bad?? in jessie that did not happen.
guidol Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 which voice and speed parameters do you use? I cant find a difference - on my OPi Zero - in the sound to my other systems for the default voice I do use. I do use a little speak.sh script to get around the on/off of the amplifier: # put text into file echo $* > /tmp/speak_this.txt # generate short empty wav-file espeak-ng "" -w /tmp/empty.wav -s145 # generate wav file for the text - speed 145 voice english espeak-ng -f /tmp/speak_this.txt -w /tmp/espeak.wav -s145 -ven # play the short empty file to activate the amplifier aplay -D plughw:0,0 /tmp/empty.wav 2>/dev/null # wait 2 seconds sleep 2 # play the text wave file aplay -D plughw:0,0 /tmp/espeak.wav 2>/dev/null # cleanup rm /tmp/espeak.wav rm /tmp/speak_this.txt
guidol Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 @alfaktulu I checked my other OPi Zero and found that there Iam using a mbrola-voice with espeak which sounds better Because Iam a german guy I do use the mbrola-de6 (German male voice for Mbrola) voice via the command: espeak -vgerman-mbrola-6 -f /home/guido/speak.txt -w /tmp/espeak.wav -s110; aplay -D plughw:0,0 /tmp/espeak.wav 2>/dev/null; rm /home/guido/speak.txt german-mbrola-6 is installed via apt as package mbrola-de6 For using mbrola-voices you have to install mbrola and the voice you want to use.
