  2. I have Chrony running right now on an Espressobin V7 running Armbian. Works out of the box.
  3. I second this suggestion. I've been using Chrony for years (I was the initial maintainer of the Debian Chrony package and also made upstream contributions). It's much better suited for these sorts of boards.

  5. Is there way to configure sound over hdmi? Display is working ok (configuration for 1366x768 and 1920x1080 was made manually), but there is no sound.

  11. i have had success with OV5640 on FE HW (H3,H5,A64, possibly H2+) You should check camera schematic of your board if it matches the same way FE handle the camera. I think I2C must be tied to CSI or you cannot communicate with the sensor. vfe_v4l2 driver seems to be from Android and has additional Image Processing in it. (ISP) (Kernel 3.x and 4.4.y, perhaps 4.9.y). I think there is still no support for OPIs, BPIs and some others for the mainline OV5640 / OV5647 and you have to use the Android kernel way or until someone writes the code.
  12. In my opinion ntp should be replaced by chrony. Benefits of Chrony include: 1. Faster synchronization requiring only minutes instead of hours to minimize the time and frequency error, which is useful on desktops or systems not running 24 hours a day. 2. Better response to rapid changes in the clock frequency, which is useful for virtual machines that have unstable clocks or for power-saving technologies that don’t keep the clock frequency constant. 3. After the initial synchronization, it never steps the clock so as not to affect applications needing system time to be monotonic. 4. Better stability when dealing with temporary asymmetric delays, for example when the link is saturated by a large download. 5. Periodic polling of servers is not required, so systems with intermittent network connections can still quickly synchronize clocks. I can prepare patch and pull request, but I need initial confirmation.

  14. I don't know S805X, but S905X (khadas VIM1) doesn't work well with some HDMI TVs, eg Samsung TVs. My 4K Samsung TV, S905X failed to set to 4K mode, TV shows unsupported mode, this issue happens on legacy buildroot kernel, and mainline kernel, but not on Android kernel.

  16. Maybe there is no BRCM at all in the DTB that you currently using ... Since you got an SDIO in log, maybe it is some other kind of WiFi that is present.
  17. panfrost driver is far away from daily use, still under heave develop.. if you have mali450/400 device, lima driver is near.
  18. so the csi camera is now working in mainline kernel? woow The device tree stuff is implemented,csi, i2c and clock are supported? as to this vfe_v4l2 driver, this confuses me too, i think it originates from qualcomm. (video front end), rather complicated. mainline uses the videobuf2 interface, so drivers need to be modified, i guess.
  19. Hello! Received my Helios4 today, haven't set ip up yet. I'm planning on not using the plexiglas chassis, but use a gutted Qnap TS419 as a frame instead, provided things do fit. I'm curious - has anyone tried interesting things using the GPIO yet?

  21. Thx for replay..but I need to disappointed you. I have even the same board what u ordered OrangePI +2E, and I was with same logic that maybe it is related with the OrangePI PC model, but no. It happening the same, totally. So you can jump over that step and try right now with newest image. I unforunately have not my orange next to me to try the newest (with compaling) image, but I will do in next 2 week.

  23. not understand you i am await Orange pi 3, and try build Armbian with Panfrost patch. in last commits Panfrost was updated to verison 1.1 later try backport to 5.3 kernel
  24. There is virtually no relationship with Debian on a kernel level. We maintain our own line of kernel(s) for each board family. This is just a coincidence. We use most appropriate mainline sources + (in case of allwinner) huge number of patches. Or backporting? If someone finds the interest ... but otherwise we are on the way to move to 5.x. sooner.

  26. Hi@lope thanks for sharing your research on modern crypto options. Kernel 5.x for allwinner CPUs is available as the armbian dev kernel. You can switch to it via the armbian-config tool. An image is also available via the "other downloads" link on the download page for your chosen SBC.
