  1. Thanks, I’ll download the new one and see if it fixes the problem on my PiTop CEED with the Tinkerboard/s in it.  I’m currently using a patched version from azq2 who originally reported this and it fixed my HDMI issues with that setup.

  2. Manually extracting and copying them to the emmc didn't work.  Could be a version mismatch, the image I used was legacy desktop 5.75 and it looked like your debs are for 5.76 based on the directory names.

     

    I guess I could try a nightly to see if that has hopes of working.

  3. I never got as far as installing yours.   I couldn’t even get it to start up enough to ssh into it to try and install the packages.

     

    i guess I could extract them on my laptop and try writing them to the eMMC.  I tried all of the current Armbian images and none of them ot past the red LED with a flashing yellow one and no wired ethernet so I could ssh in.

  4. I tried following all that but I got lost.  I think your saying I need to compile a new kernel with your pull request applied and then switch over to that.  Have never tried building a kernel before, any chance you have a working one for 5.75 bionic desktop you could share?

  5. I got distracted on some other projects and am circling back to this once again.  @TonyMac32, what output do you need to help troubleshoot what is going on?

     

    I have a serial to USB adapter finally so I can capture the debug console from the Tinkerboard S and I can shell in and run whatever is needed from the cmd line.

     

    TinkerOS boots and displays so the HDMI converter and LCD in the CEED are working.  Armbian 5.75 boots but no display on the LCD.

  6. @Igor - Mine must have been special then, because it wouldn't boot with ANY distribution using a newer Kernel while it had the original 1366x768 LCD in it.  Now that I swapped it for a 1920x1080 LCD it seems pretty happy with the Testing 5.56 using 4.19 but the Bionic with 3.10 that used to work stopped.

     

    I was going to do this upgrade anyway, just didn't expect to have to do it just to get things going.   It wasn't just Armbian, every other distribution I tried had problems except for the one it came with that was just way too sluggish.  Not exactly sure which one that was since the prior owner installed it and I didn't intend to stick with it anyway.

OK.  Thats wierd because mine won't boot any of the 4.19 options I've tried DietPi, Manjaro, and Armbian.  When I took a 1920x1080 display I used to upgrade a Pi-Top CEED and tried it Manjaro booted up.  Have not had a chance to try the others yet.  Maybe they tweaked something in the DEV that isn't in the Test one on the website that I was trying to use.

  8. Armbian Legacy 5.56 Kernel 3.10 boots and installs to the eMMC (as long as ext2fs is picked).

     

    Armbian Dev 5.56 Kernel 4.19 does not boot from the SD Card at all (power LED and black screen).  I don't have the serial console adapter (yet) so I don't know if there is something useful there.

  9. @hojnikb I put a Libre Computer Le Potato in a Pi-Top v2 laptop running Armbian and it works pretty good.  I had to modify the special bridge heatsink combo by removing the heatsink meant for a Raspberry Pi and just using the Libre stock heatsink for the Le Potato only problem is no eMMC yet.  This setup stayed full clock speed for hours running stress -c 4 so cooling looks good.

     

    I'm also trying a similar stunt with a Tinkerboard S but cooling is still an issue with it throttling clock speed after about 10 minutes.

     

    Armbian doesn't seem to like the V1 hubs in the CEED or V1 laptop

  10. Running Armbian Desktop stable 4.14y my Tinkerboard sees the WiFi network but refuses to connect.  It has worked with TinkerOS so I don’t think it’s hardware related and Iknow the passcode and WPA settings look right.  When I try to connect it spins and then fails after timing out.

    I’m probably just missing something stupid.  Suggestions?

I went back and looked through page 2, not sure I’m daring enough to try all that stuff I don’t understand yet.  It seems the next update will have a working utility so I’ll use the SD for now and work on porting the utilities to port the hub management so I can do a proper shutdown in the Pi-Top.

  12. Thanks, worked great.  I now see bus /dev/i2c-0 and /dev/i2c-1 and my device id shows up on /dev/i2c-0

    Looking forward to the future update with the overlays and eMMC, I have what I need to try and port the Pi-Top device support over now.
