    NanoPI M4

I've just dd'd the image to another EMMC card and it booted perfectly - bearing in mind I created the image from a running system which I know is frowned upon.

What would be the offset for an Armbian image ? Edit I worked it out with googles help if you run fdisk -lu /path/to/your/image.img it will give you start and end numbers , if you multiply the start figure by 512 this gives you the offset. I just tried it with my dd created Armbian EMMC image and it mounted ok - this is a useful piece of knowledge when you want to retrieve some files from your backup.
  3. I know what you mean ( many hats and titles ) I've been programming computers since 1971 and I'm still getting paid to do so - some of my previous titles are shown below Programmer Systems Analyst Analyst Programmer Project Manager Lead Programmer Software Engineer l could go on - all those different titles for essentially the same job BTW I have the Pi with 4 Ssd drives working beautifuly

  5. I got an invalid argument error with the iozone one unless I removed the -i params

Yes I agree Nico - I bought two of these , one from friendly direct and one from Amazon and I don't know which one is which - I don't suppose it matters as it's all from them originally

    M4 Died

The point of the discussion is to ascertain whether the board is truly dead - which I believe it is

    M4 Died

That's my point - nothing makes it work - it's dead

    M4 Died

Because I get no led lights - nothing - the board is ( appears to be ) dead

The problem is I can't power it the normal way it won't accept power

The M4 needs separate power using UART lead so I'm stuffed with that

Hi Nico, yes I was powering via the hat, I've tried powering via USB but not the pins - I wouldn't know how

One of my boards gave up today - I was just connecting the SATA power cable to the hat and no leds came on - no sound or smoke just nothing - I tried several times to re power it and all I saw on a couple of occasions was a very faint flicker of the leds -so I guess it's dead.
  19. Doesn't look like they ship to the UK either - thanks for trying
  20. Dat's da bunny but I'm in the UK !
  21. I received one of these https://www.servercase.co.uk/shop/server-cases/rackmount-case-accessories/accessories-spare-parts/supermicro-cse-m14tqc-cse-m14tqc/ today to go with the Nanopi M4 SATa hat, it has a male Molex for input power, the SATA hat has a male Molex power outlet so I need a female to female Molex connector which I can't find anywhere - any ideas guys ?
  22. You're welcome, I now have a 4TB backup system - I've ordered a case for the drives which will tidy things up and hide all the cables and I'll put some pics up when I have it sorted - it's been an enjoyable learning curve for us all
  23. Thanks ( glazes over ) :-)
