I agree with you. Some of PWM, i2c and can DTBs also not included currently. Today or tomorrow i'll create a PR for that.
-
@Blackenzdon't have any other idea. I can't check it due to i don't have any typec to display port converter. I'll create a Jira task after going to the home.
-
@Blackenz it's already enabled. just rename https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/master/patch/kernel/rockchip-rk3588-legacy/2006-OrangePi5-dubious-cdn-dp-core-stuff-extracted-from-X.patch.disabled to 2006-OrangePi5-dubious-cdn-dp-core-stuff-extracted-from-X.patch and try it
-
It's easier to install panfork and other Hardware accel libs on Jammy because of there is a PPA
-
@zjd what's your DE? And are you using Xorg or Wayland? I'm not able to reproduce it
-
@Blackenz can you try to compile kernel by enabling the https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/master/patch/kernel/rockchip-rk3588-legacy/2006-OrangePi5-dubious-cdn-dp-core-stuff-extracted-from-X.patch.disabled patch

I have no SD writer, can I boot from a simple USB thumbstick?
Efe Çetin replied to snow's topic in Orange Pi 5
You can boot from USB. Latest Xunlong uboot support booting from USB but you have to burn rkspiloader image to spi loader using the MASKROM mode since you don't have sd card. You can check https://wiki.radxa.com/Rock5/install/spi https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/mobile/folders/1Bre2q0bGgXQuQlYaYDMvwstpvtHLmcgX?usp=share_link to learn how to use MASKROM mode. -
@Avatar Ng you should burn https://github.com/orangepi-xunlong/orangepi-build/blob/cf2eec97c417a513d30ca8c65f10ac35f48c07ef/external/packages/bsp/rk3588/usr/share/orangepi5/rkspi_loader_sata.img instead of using armbian-install. I'll make a post about ssd installation guide, soon. @mrkev no i didn't test it due to i don't have CEC drive but i'll check it, thanks
-
@b-baka it was already added in https://github.com/armbian/build/commit/b9170c2f22fb00b3334b0bfd984f1af6ffcd4e0b by @danielpinto8zz6 Can you try latest builds? Overlay Name: opi5-sata
-
I sent the PR https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/4659
-
Can you try the build here
-
No. It's just my local build but i'll send a PR since it works.
-
Can you install kernel and DTBs from https://disk.yandex.com.tr/d/92-u6d0M8BGQVA and https://disk.yandex.com.tr/d/bySmhrkYZggR7w Resolution problems should be fixed.
-
Can you try https://github.com/armbian/build/releases/tag/23.02.0-trunk.0130? This release should contains gui and nvme fixes. I'm not able to try it now
-
@haajee can you try https://github.com/armbian/build/releases/tag/23.02.0-trunk.0128
-
Will check it when i'm free
-
@Avatar Ng can you try the image from https://github.com/armbian/build/releases/tag/23.02.0-trunk.0127
-
@berin you don't really need a heatsink (i use but it's not much important) Orange Pi 5 is probably cooler than Orange Pi 4.
-
@Reneco which ssd and power supply are you using?
-
I'm now able to boot from nvme. I think there was a problem with bootfs partition. It wasn't working when it was ext4. Then i converted it to fat and it works 💫
-
Hi @haajee @bla. Which image did you boot from nvme ssd? I can boot opi images from nvme but i'm not able to boot armbian image from ssd. Maybe you know how to fix it
-
I think you can add another release for kernel with panfork patches and without OC. Maybe they can also be included into the Armbian RK3588 patches if they are stable
-
Can you run geekbench with overclocked kernel? Sounds interested
-
Yeah it'd be really cool to fix flickering. Btw why did you increase voltage? Are there any big profit of overclocking RK3588S?
-
I can send new commit to fix these USB issues but i don't have a permission to send commit to @rpardini's repo. Maybe he can add a service into the opi5 bsp and activate the tcpm patch. Then there's no reason not to approve the PR i think.
