gmc Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Been at this for a few days now and am slowly losing my mind. Got a MQX Amlogic 905 P201. (CS_905MXQ_V1.0) and have been running Armbian for a while now off SD card using meson-gxbb-p201.dtb without any issues. Using Armbian_5.84_Aml-s905_Debian_stretch_default_5.1.0-rc1_20190507 Tried installing to emmc by running install.sh. Everything looked good but rebooted and found the device was bricked. Managed to get it working again by running the usb burning tool and flashing MXQ PRO 4K - p201 - android TV (ATV) - by cOOLio. SoI can at least boot into it and browse the SD card, but now for some reason I can't boot directly back into the SD Card with Armbian on. Is there some trick I"m missing to get armbian installed on the emmc? Also tried booting with twrp recovery image on and doesn't work either (It did before I bricked it)
balbes150 Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 For many older u-boot (which are used in s905) there is no possibility to install in eMMC. Their u-boot does not support this feature. I have a workaround for Telos models with the s905 chip, but it hasn't been tested yet and may not work on other devices.
gmc Posted December 19, 2019 Author Posted December 19, 2019 Thanks, that explains why I can't get it working. Any clue as to why I can no longer boot from SD? Is there some different method I Should be following?
balbes150 Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 Restore via USB Burn Tool regular firmware and re-activate the universal multi-boot.
truemad Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 I have exactly the same board and in this video that guy had no issues https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0Sdu9pTMs4 It was 3 years ago though, but for him it worked somehow.
