@Maker39

in the afternoon/late evening @jock and me will investigate the 8723 wifi problem.
TY for reporting 8189 working

@MFaust

by your log it seems ppptd needs something in the kernel ( ppp filter) and infact it isn't compiled

Quote

# CONFIG_PPP_FILTER is not set

 should compile a new kernel with this flag on or use openvpn that surely works

@Maker39  again...

can you compile a new kernel for MFaust  with all ppp options set on , so me and jock keep concentrate on harware problems ?

if then ppptd works we will keep it on future releases

Posted

@fabiobassaSorry, but I do not have sufficient kernel assembly and firmware skills. And on Linux, almost every command has to be searched on google. If only to find step by step instructions.

@MFaustdoes not fit on 2GB unfortunately.:(    You can try to burn on a USB stick (may work, or maybe not).

@Maker39

 I was understandig you knew how to compile kernels. OK no matters

@MFaust

please wait some time since we are more focused on hardware problems at the moment
You can try "openvpn " that is surely working and if you open a new 3ad I will try to support you in configuring vpn ( server or client)

so we leave this discussion for hardware related problems

Ok there's connman on current libreelec releases. Anyway with @fabiobassa I managed to do some tests on libreelec and 8723bs kernel module is not loaded at all, instead 8723cs and rtl8723ds modules are both loaded at startup and somehow the thing works. We are going to make some more tests and report here findings...

I am ready to test. Another 1 week at least I'm at your disposal

mmm I don't believe all this will finish in just one week ..

Tests on 8723 are going in right direction anyway ;)

Posted

1 week is the period that I will definitely spend at home.

"Thank you, COVID-19" for auto isolation.

Maybe then I can’t so quickly

ps And now I have a new "toy" - Kody.

I'm sitting thinking: which TV-box to leave under Libreelec :huh:

Posted

with @jock managed to have 8723 working
Let's say 80% is done , just need some tuning and jock will release how to

For my experience on those boards I can say:
if you need videos stay on android or libreelec and kodi

if you need a server or a decent desktop, office and pdf go on linux

If one day it will be implemented WAYLAND x server on thos board , we will have definetly a good replacement for an entry desktop pc ( I am speaking of 3229 and ddr3 )

@fabiobassa don't worry a out the VPN problem I was just playing around and found a bug and was thinking to report it (and in case it was easy to fix it myself)

@Maker39 thanks for trying to put the image on 2GB after playing a little more I found out that is not a good ideea to put in on 2GB because I am already at 92% of the space... Now I am asking if you can increase the space at least with one gb to be sure that it can everything that passes through my mind to install :D

Anyway... With the desktop environment deactivated the system runs more smoothly :D

The temperature is around 65, the ethernet speed is 97% of what the provider is giving

Managed to mount different USB with no problems. And the webdav server is running well.

About VPN, currently there are much more opensource-friendly VPN alternatives, OpenVPN is de-facto standard nowadays and it available for linux, windows and macos. If you need a stable solution, you may try it out. Armbian also has support for wireguard, which is one of the most exciting VPN recently merged into linux kernel due to being very fast and secure, and it is ideal for embedded devices.

About the 2GB partition size, normally armbian enlarges the partition on first boot to fit to the device size. You can, however, do it yourself enlarging the partition and then using ext4 standard tools to adapt the filesystem. It's a matter of seconds and there are plenty of tutorials on the internet on how to do that.

But today, after updating the repository ( Migrated all rk322x-legacy targets into single rk322x-box target, add…) , it broke.

solution "git clone -b rk3229 https://github.com/paolosabatino/armbian-build "

no longer works - no rk322x boards.

Yep, I'm finalizing the process of migrating all the boards into a single image, you should be able to find the board rk322x-box in the list if you want to compile. Tomorrow I will upload new images and new instructions.

Ok.

I will wait for instructions

ps  I tried again today git clone -b rk3229 https://github.com/paolosabatino/armbian-build

oops now there is rk322x-board :rolleyes:

All the images in the first page have been updated with the following news:

  • Single image for all boxes! Configure your box with sudo rk322x-config once the system has booted
  • Support for Realtek 8188eu, 8189es/etv, 88x2bu and various other wifi chips
  • General better stability
  • eMMC in DDR mode for some boards

Enjoy!

hello everyone, it is the first time I write in this forum, I have a tvbox based on rk3229 and I happily managed to boot armbian on sdcard, thanks to your advice, now I would like to install on internal memory but to do this I would first like to do a bakup  of android and here my problem arises .. first of all my device is an rk3229 with 2 gb of ram and 16 days of mmc memory m but when I went to try the rockchip tool to make the backup it tells me that it cannot find the device .. and in fact instead  of 2207:320b it is  2207:0006 ...  so I did a quick google search to see what it was and I arrived on the rockchip website which tells me that shoudl be an rk3066 (but is not)  and that flashes through fastboot, well it would not be a problem if it were not that after several attempts I could not get anything (I wanted to install the recovery twrp to make a backup etc) .. and I found that the bootloader is in security on, and I have no possibility to install custom recovery or different boot ..
The even more odd thing is that I can access adb as root and write the android 8 filesystem via adb does anyone know how i can unlock the bootloader? or in extremis an alternative method to backup android in order to then install armbian in memory?
the problem in what I fear is that I cannot write the recovery partition (I have not tried with the boot partition) I had also tried using dd to write on the recovery partition from armbian, but it does not give me write permission in any way, I did the same thing entering through adb shell by mounting in rw the android system, but nothing, I have no possibility to write the recovery partition.

Can't you just backup /dev/mmcblk2 from armbian using dd?

I have absolutely no experience with encrypted/secured devices because I never got any in my hands and I don't know what happens if the internal bootloader is wiped out here. Maybe @hexdump can give some advice.

Also, could you please post here the result of this command:

hexdump -C /sys/bus/devices/rockchip-efuse0/nvmem

 Since the changes from 10.04.2020 and the replacement of images on rk322x-box.

Firmware replaced with new ones.

LE_bootloader_Armbian_20.05.0-trunk_Rk322x-box_buster_legacy_4.4.194_minimal 2GB

LE_bootloader_Armbian_20.05.0-trunk_Rk322x-box_focal_legacy_4.4.194_desktop 4GB

These are img from first post with Libreelec bootloader for boot without erase eMMC. Just insert a card and turn on power.

@jock I read this "Run sudo rk322x-config and select your board from the list to enable leds, wifi chips, high-speed eMMC, etc..." and tried all the available options.

I made several tests of new firmware on my rk3229 boards.

Legacy firmvare:

1. SSV6051 is working.

2. Wifi RTL8703BS works after blacklist exception 8723cs. The MAC is changes after every reboot.

3. Do not see eMMC . And there is no transfer of the image to the built-in eMMC in armbian-config.

Did you blacklist 8723cs module to let rtl8703bs work? The MAC address unfortunately is still an open problem, it requires further attention but I haven't any board with 8703/8723 chips to test

This is strange. Are you using original images or those "cured" by you?

I suspect that if you're using the cured you have to change the device tree manually creating the resource.img file from the device tree and put it in the right partition.

Also can you post the whole dmesg output.

1. My blacklist-rk322x-box.conf for enable rtl8703bs

blacklist r8188eu
#blacklist 8723cs
blacklist ssv6051

2. No difference. I tried on the original images and with the replaced bootloader.

I'm sorry - I lied.

Trouble with "patched" img -_-
