Rockpi4a booting from emmc

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I owe a rockpi4a which I like to reflash with a custom build dev image:

./compile.sh BRANCH=dev RELEASE=buster BUILD_MINIMAL=yes BUILD_DESKTOP=no KERNEL_ONLY=no KERNEL_CONFIGURE=no BOARD=rockpi4a

Can I flash this image directly to emmc, so it boots from it ?

Yes.

IMHO by far the easiest option is flashing the image to SD card, booting it with SD (and eMMC module inserted).

After booting you can run "nand-sata-install" command and choose "Boot from eMMC / system on eMMC option there.

Some other options:

  • if you have eMMC to USB or eMMC to SD adapter then you can flash it directly to eMMC module
  • if you have USB-A to USB-A cable and then you can use the maskrom mode install
