Question about playing video

Hi,

does anyone have experience with video playback? is playing 1080p in anyway possible? Which image would you recommend for Orange Pi Zero 2 H616 1GB? Is a desktop x11 mandatory?

x11 may be ok,but decode may be not supported. should be test.

Just basic functionality has been mainlined yet. Do not expect things like graphics/video work well/work at all yet.

thank you for your answers. i have tried everything possible. every vaapi driver with vlc and mpv compiled etc. at 720p is the maximum. no hardware decoding possible. very sad.

I tried to setup/enable some other components and I am successful with upstream linux kernel 6.2RC5:
- displayengine (drm, fb, mixer, tcon, hdmi) (seems to have some I2C/EDID problems)
- videoengine (cedrus) (in testing now)
- gpu (3d mali, panfrost)
