nosmokingbandit Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 I have an old MXQ Pro S905 box I wanted to install Armbian on. I'd done this in the past, then I had coreelec on it, then decided to go back... But that's irrelevant. I got the image Armbian_23.11.1_Aml-s9xx-box_bookworm_current_6.1.63.img.xz from https://armbian.lv.auroradev.org/dl/aml-s9xx-box/archive/ and went through the whole process of getting it ready to boot. I started up the box and went about some other stuff because I remember it taking some time on the first boot. When I came back there were a lot of messages on the screen so I pressed Enter to see where the cursor was. It showed me a prompt, I typed `ls` to make sure things were working (it was), I ran `iwconfig` to see if my wireless interface showed up (it did!). I decided to shut it down with `shutdown now` and figured I'd get back to it later. Well later is now, and I booted up the box. It asks for a login. I try root:1234 with no success. Apparently the os is supposed to ask me to create a new account when it first boots up. But it didn't. And now I don't know how to log in to the root account to create a new user. What do I do? 0 Quote
SteeMan Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 The easiest thing to do would be to start over with a new download/SD card. The default is root/1234 and if you didn't change it, that should still be the case. 0 Quote

So you should be able to login with username as root and just press enter when prompted for password 0 Quote
